If it wasn’t the case, would would Oda bother to right the first sentence at all, then having Sanji correct it? He could have written the second part about Nami only. The first part was his REAL thoughts. It’s to show that everytime S says he doesn’t care about the boys, it’s all a facade. He was raised by a bunch of machos that showed affection through fists and insults. Look at his interractions with Zeff! I think you’re overreacting a little.

Yeah, apparently everyone thinks those words had the intention to show us how he’s just trying to act normal aka all macho-man like always. Which, after all he’s been through during this arc and everything everyone has been through because of his sake, is still disappointing to me lmao Luffy had just punched Sanji because he was lying to both luffy and himself. He exploded and said what he truly wanted was to go home with everyone so I was expecting that honesty would last a few more panels and he wouldn’t have a problem showing how he feels to everyone. But I guess it’s just in some people’s nature not to open up *sigh*

Personally, I still think he should apologize. I think there’s a reason some people agree he should and some people say he doesn’t have to. I think it depends on people’s values. The question is (and this doesn’t refer to only One Piece): should people apologize when they hurt someone even if they had no other choice? I guess people have different views on this.I think it depends on the situation. If for example, I’ve been dating someone for years and suddenly I fall for someone else and I decide to dump this person I’ve been dating, I would still say that I’m sorry. Because yeah, I had no other choice, I’m not in control of my feelings and I didn’t choose to fall for someone else, and I’m sure my now ex-partner will eventually understand this. I don’t even owe them an explanation? because it’s MY feelings. But I’m still aware that I’ve hurt them. And I’m sorry that I’ve hurt them, so I apologize because I am sorry about it.

In this case, Sanji almost killed Luffy. He made Luffy and Nami have a really bad time and made some real damage. I’m 100% sure he feels sorry about all of it even if he had no choice. So If he feels like that, I don’t see why he won’t apologize. I’m sure Luffy isn’t even interested in hearing an apology (bless this sunshine) but I think Nami would and personally I would. It’s not that I would hate him or anything if it doesn’t happen, It’s just that It’s what I was expecting to happen and if it doesn’t I would see it a bit ooc.

These are my views on the matter, It’s okay if you don’t share them (I like debating of course) but yeah. I still think by the end of the arc it will all be okay and he will still thank them and apologize and everything, so It’s okay. Or maybe It won’t happen but whatever, It’s not that deep I guess lol

What’s this double standard in shipping I’m seeing in the one piece community? We as a fandom pride ourselves on being polite but as of nowadays I see less and less of that. This chapter discussion is a brilliant example of that: so it’s ok when lunami fans blew things out of proportions when chapter 844 came out and they all said “nami hates sanji, nami cut ties with sanji, nami cares for luffy” oh don’t even let me start on the spoiler discussion thread on orojackson when they were all saying sanji should kneel down and kiss luffy and namis feet and nami is like Zoro she would not forgive sanji unless he apologized. But lo and behold when the chapter comes out something entirely different happens and oda actually appeals to the sanami fandom more. What do these same Luna fans do they start to damage control left and right not just that but start to hate on sanji….like why???

I mean you’re free to ship what you want but there’s a fucking limit to how much you can hate and dislike an opposing ship. Weren’t these the same fans that said sanami was a “fan fiction ship”? So if it’s fanfiction why does it bother you so much? Are you scared your so called canon ship will end up catching an L? If so then grow up!

My point is why is it fine for lunami fans to blow things out of proportion between luffy and nami as some kind of implied romance but GOD FORBID sanami fans do the same with sanji and nami without getting insults thrown at them for it?
