FEBRUARY BOOK OF THE MONTH: P.S. I LOVE YOU – MID-BOOK REVIEW & CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE SUMMARY *SPOILERS
February Book of the Month: P.s. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern Mid-Book Review and Chapter Twenty-Five Summary
Chapter Twenty-Five Summary Please note: This is a full summary of Chapter Twenty-Five, there are spoilers.
Chapter Twenty-Five begins with Holly entering her parents backyard to attend her sister Ciara’s Birthday Party, a Birthday Barbecue, as it were. All of Holly’s friends are there, though her brother Jack isn’t in attendance which Holly finds strange. Apparently Jack hasn’t been around much since Holly asked him to help her clean out her home of Gerry’s things; Holly and Jack used to be the closest out of all her siblings and it makes Holly feel ill at ease.
After giving Ciara her Birthday present Holly approaches her brother Richard to ask him if he’s been the one tidying her garden, since someone has been doing this favor for Holly while she’s not at home and she cannot figure out who is doing it. Richard insists he’s not the one tidying Holly’s garden so Holly asks a few other people if they’re the “leprechaun” doing it, she seems a bit crazed about it until Ciara steps in and asks the entire party if anyone there has been tidying Holly’s garden. After that little fiasco, Holly is slightly embarrassed but she moves on to hang out with her friends, ignoring the issue regarding her garden for the time being.
Holly and Daniel discuss Daniel’s recent trip to Miami and her trip to Spain that Gerry had planned for her, Denise and Sharon before he passed. Holly asks Daniel if he went to Miami with a woman because Ciara would be ever so jealous if he did; Daniel then explains that he has been single for a few months since his last relationship of seven years didn’t work out. Despite Ciara wanting Holly to invite Daniel to the party so she could get to know him better and “have his babies” she is too busy flirting with every other bachelor to pay much attention to him.
As if right on que, Ciara’s ex-boyfriend enters the backyard with a huge bouquet of flowers, expressing his undying love for her. Ciara couldn’t have had a better Birthday.
After Ciara’s Birthday party Holly goes for drinks with her friends Denise, Tom and Daniel; because Denise and Tom can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other long enough to pay any attention to Daniel and Holly they end up spending the night getting to know each other better.
End Chapter Twenty-Five.

Mid-Book Review: If you’ve been following my blog since the beginning of February you know I chose P.s. I Love You for February’s Book of the Month because I wanted a heartfelt love story in light of Valentine’s Day. Understandably P.s. I Love You is a little off the grid when it comes to the kind of love story you might expect for Valentine’s Day because it is less about love and more about finding yourself AFTER love.
I felt that P.s. I Love You would be a great pick for this month because it expresses so much about love and how loving someone affects your whole life even after they’re gone. P.s. I Love You may not be a sappy love story full of first kisses and new-found love but it is a love story full of hope, fear, happiness, sadness and the truth about love.
The first half of this novel was great, I loved that there were so many different characters that all played an important part in Holly’s story; some of them even have their own little story intertwined with Holly’s. This made it seem real to me, like the story I was reading was true and not fictitious. It’s been awhile since a fiction novel made me feel like it was REAL, like this happened to someone and this is their memoir. For that reason alone I fell in love with this story and I think Cecelia Ahern is a fantastic author, certainly an author who can make up a story, tell it, and make you believe it! Imagination and the art of make-believe; I love it!
P.s. I Love You reminds you that LOVE is a very real important part of everyone’s lives. Be that love for your significant other, love for a friend or love for a family member. There is so much love in this story, it’s magnificent. -
