Chandika (Durga) and her Weapons

Chandi or Chandika is a Hindu deity. Chandika is an avatar of Durga, and is a form of Parvati's alter ego, Durga. She represents the power of Shakti. Chandika is a powerful form of Parvati, who manifested to destroy evil.

According to the mythology, Mahishasura, the king of the Asuras, led the army of the Asuras to attack the heavens and expel the gods of the Deva tribe who lived in the heavens. The defeated Deva gods asked Shiva and Vishnu for help, and on hearing this, Shiva and Vishnu became angry and emitted light. The other gods also emitted light, and the light gathered together and the violent goddess Chandika (another name for Durga) was born.

These weapons are considered symbolic by Shakta Hindus, representing self-discipline, selfless service to others, self-examination, prayer, devotion, remembering her mantras, cheerfulness and meditation.

チャンディカ（ドゥルガー）とその武器

チャンディまたはチャンディカは、ヒンドゥー教の神である。チャンディカはドゥルガーの化身で、パルヴァティの分身であるドゥルガーの形をしている。彼女はシャクティの力を表している。チャンディカは、悪を滅ぼすために現れたパルヴァティの強力な形態である。

神話によると、アスラ神族の王マヒシャースラがアスラの軍勢を率いて天界を攻め、天界に住んでいたデーヴァ神族の神々を追放してしまった。敗れたデーヴァ神族はシヴァとヴィシュヌに助けを求め、それを聞いたシヴァとヴィシュヌは怒り、光を発した。他の神々も光を発し、光が一つに集まり狂暴な女神チャンディカ（ドゥルガーの別名）が生まれた。
