Title: “Mutya ng Pasig” Medium: Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper Dimension: 11” x 17”, Unframed. 2017   “Mutya ng Pasig” reminds us that once in the river’s history it was full of life. It is almost impossible to imagine the river to be inhabited of crocodiles. Only anecdotes in literature (Noli Me Tangere) and legends remind us that they were there before industrialization made it uninhabitable.   This is one of my pieces that is included in WWF Philippines’ “Earth Exhibit” Art Auction. The online auction, in partnership with @wwfphilippines and @bidforthefutureorg will be hosted by @gavelandblock on Saturday, 5 December at 2pm and aims to raise funds to support the 209 Dumagat families living in Ipo Watershed Norzagaray, Bulacan, a vital link in the Angat-Umiray-Ipo watersheds system which supplies around 96% of the water needs of Metro Manila. Funds raised from the auction will help provide food assistance to the 209 families and give these forest wardens new, proper equipment that they need to continue protecting the forest.
