#changes and chances

You could have died on the day today. Or maybe already be in a grave. The choices that you have made cannot be changed but the future choices count. It may not be a 'right' choice but it is still one of any that could change your life drastically.

~Kenndal´s POV~

I heard that love can make you do crazy things but I never really believed so. Would you leave all your friends behind just to see your crush happy? Would you give up everything that made you happy just so your crush feels better? Would you give up the person you are just so your crush can be itself?

I never thought that I would ever do anything like that and now I was exactly in a position like that. I always smirked about these guys who would do anything for a girl even though she barely cared. Now I was one of them.

Okay, I can´t say that she didn´t care. Because I know she did, more than anyone of us wanted to. But that´s the reason why I wanted to give everything up. She cared so much that it hurt her. And I couldn´t see her hurt. Because I loved her. Yes, I loved her. I never thought I could say that after such a short time but I couldn´t ignore these feelings I had towards her.

  Now I stood at my locker and watcher her having a piggy-back-ride on James. She laughed with her best friends, the other two boys next to them, smiling as well. I watched them with a small smile. They always had so much fun. I shouldn´t sadden myself so I turned around, putting my books finally in.

"Are you okay?" I immediately recognized Logan´s voice. "Sure" I said and turned around to face him. "I am just worried. Actually all three of us are. You didn´t hang out with us for over a week now." I sighed. As if I wouldn´t know that... The boys and Lexie were my only friends in that new town and now I don´t have anyone besides my family. "Listen, Kendall... I know what happened between you two." I threw my hands up in the air. "Is there anyone who doesn´t know it?" "Carlos." I looked at Logan in disbelief. "She called me right after James left. I still don´t really know why but I guess she wanted to hear an opinion that´s not from her best friend. Someone who´s more out of all of this." I nodded. "Listen, I´ll meet with a friend of mine today and will be back at home at nine. If you want to talk or just hang out you can come over, okay? No matter what happened between the two of us you are still our bro, Kendall." "Thank you..." Logan smiled and then left. I sighed. I never thought Los Angeles could be so complicated...

  ~Sarah´s POV~

"Would you mind if I go home with you today?" I asked James. "I don´t. Why though?" "I need help with my homework" I said, trying to look at him with angel-eyes. He chuckled. "I don´t mind. Some time together would be good. We didn´t hang out alone for a while." I nodded. "Yeah, you are right."

  After school is out I wanted to walk out of the school building to James`car when I saw Kendall. I stopped for a second. He stood there all alone. I started to feel guilty. He left all his friends behind just for me, that just wasn´t right. But besides the guilt I felt I also felt bad, too. I still wasn´t over what happened. Probably because I never figured it out for myself. Kendall closed his locker and turned around and therefore faced me. He gave me a small smile and I smiled back. Then we both went our ways.

  "You ready?" James asked as I got to his car. I nodded and got in. "Are you okay, Lex?" James asked as he got in too. "Yeah..." I answered. James shrugged. He probably knew what my problem was and nicely didn´t ask any more.

We all walk back into my flat, laughing. We are talking about old stories we went through together, which basically brings us to burst out into tears out of laughter.

I open the door for everyone and they get in, Kendall is the last. I grab his hand and again there´s the feeling I had in the mall. But I shrug it off. “It must be stupid not being able to talk with us” I say to him. He turns his face to me and smiles. “Not at all, it´s really funny to hear these stories.” He squeezes my hand and then let it go. “You worry too much Lexi.” “I probably really do” I say. Kendall smiles. “Don´t worry about me. I love to hang out with you all. It´s a lot of fun.”

  At five I get a call from Chris. “I´m upstairs” I say to the guys and walk upstairs. “Hey Lexi!” “Hey baby. How are you?” “I´m good and you?” “I´m doing awesome. Thank you.” “How´s your weekend with the boys so far?” “It´s great, we´ll leave for jogging in a couple minutes.” I hear Chris laughing. “You´re never going to get tired.” “Nope. I´m full of energy.” “Yeah, I know that. Well I don´t want to steal your time then.” Another quick call… “You are not” I say, trying to talk to him a little longer. “Come on babe, you don´t want to miss time with the boys, don´t you?” “I´d rather miss a couple minutes with them to talk to you” “Aw, that´s my girl. But I wouldn´t do that Lexi and you know that. Don´t be stubborn baby.” I sigh. “Fine. I love you.” “I love you too baby.”

  “That was quick” James says as I come back downstairs. I nod. “Yeah, I know that. So, are you ready to leave?” “Leave?” Kendall asks. “Oh, James, Logan and I are going to jog a little. Would you like to join us?” “Sure” Kendall says and gets up. “We´re staying here” Carlos says, talking about himself and Claudia. “So just as always” I answer and the others of us get upstairs to change into some sport clothes.

“These should fit you” I say to Kendall as I give him some clothes from my dad. “He doesn´t use them anymore.” Kendall nods. “Thank you.” “I`ll leave you alone so that you can get dressed. We will wait downstairs.” He nods and I leave the room.

  “Where´s Kendall?” Logan asks. “He´s getting dressed. He should be there any second.” “Well, you will find us outside” James says as he grabs me, carrying me outside. I laugh loudly. “You are so stupid.” “I know I am” James says as he sets me down, giggling. Just a second later Logan and Kendall join us. I can´t deny that Kendall looks really cute in these old sport clothes. “Well, let´s go” I say, turning my attention back to all of them.

  An hour later we are back at my place. “Can I might take a shower?” Kendall asks  as I´m in the kitchen, getting water “Yeah, sure.” I hand him a glass full of water. “It´s left to my room, you can use a towel in there.” Kendall nods. “Thank you.” He drinks his water and walks upstairs. I walk back to the others, handing Logan and James a glass. “Where did Kendall go?” “Taking a shower.” “Well then I´m going right after him” James says with a wink. I giggle. We sit down in the living room and watch some TV. “Oh…” I mumble as I want to check my phone for any messages. “I forgot my phone upstairs. I´m right back.” I get up from the couch, walking up to my room.

I look up at the clock. Just a few seconds more to go. Five, four, three, two, one… the bells ring! I quickly get up from my chair  and hurry out of the class right to my locker. I put my books in and walk outside. My detention would start in twenty minutes so I still have some time to call someone. I dial his number and call him. “Alexis!” the familiar male voice says on the other line.” “Christoph! How are you?” “I’m all good, how are you? How’s California?” “It’s good. Sunny as most of the time. How’s New York? I heard it’s raining a lot there at the moment.” “Yeah, three days of rain non-stop. Not the weather I’d love to have while being here.” “I am sure about this. But how’s New York besides the weather?” “It’s good. But something is missing here.” “What?” “You.” I bite my bottom lip  and smile then. “I miss you” I say. “I miss you too Alexis. You have no idea how much.” I smile and feel my heart beating faster. “So, what’s new?” Christoph asks. “I have detention in a couple minutes” I say and hear him laugh. “You and detention? What the fuck did you do?” he asks, still laughing. I can’t help but laugh too. “Claudia did need help during a test and of course I got caught helping her.” “What a badass you are” he says and laughs again. Now I have to laugh as much as him. “Shut up” I say laughing. “Oh and we got a new teacher” I say as we both stop laughing. “James said he’s very young and I am sure he looks handsome.” “Well, not as handsome as I do” Chris says jokingly and I laugh. “I can’t tell. I didn’t see that teacher yet.” “Looks like there’s not that much to catch up when I come back.” “Probably not.”
