eleanor never had a clue she was unique. from the very day she was born, her mother despised her, her father left her behind. she was nothing special, she thought, so much so that her own father couldnāt bear raise her as he should. the only one who ever looked after her was her big brother, dexter. she spent most of her childhood living as a normal kid with a normal family. she never even believed in the supernatural to begin with, no matter how much kids at school whispered about it in the crook of her ear. it wasnāt until she started hearing things that she considered it twice.
first, words in her teacherās voice, even if his mouth was shut and unmoving. then it got louder, more voices, constantly yapping it up in her head. the less crowded a room, the more at peace she felt. when she began suspecting she could read minds, she tested it out with her brother and confirmed her worst fears. dexter finally sat her down and announced to her that their father was a mutant, and that that gene morphs and changes through generations. it had skipped him, but he still tried to help eleanor to the best of his capacities with growing up mutant.
later in life, she developed another ability: mind control. although it requires immense effort and energy, if she focuses enough, eleanorās capable of folding even the most stubborn and closed mind to execute her will. her good nature prevents her from ever using that specific ability, but with her career as a therapist, mind reading does come in handy.
