sugar and spice and dissociating (twice) | haruna | ch1 | closed for nakano
The reality of their situation hadn’t quite set in by the time Haruna once again found herself wandering quietly through the cafeteria- despite having, apparently, all of Japan at her disposal, part of her hesitated- would she like what she found out there? If she went home, would her parents not be joining the ranks of the empty-eyed soulless people walking the streets in silence, following commands?
She wasn’t sure if she was ready for that.
Home aside, the thought of going, well, really anywhere else in Japan was daunting. Before coming to Tokyo for Hope’s Peak, Haruna hadn’t traveled far from home, not ever really leaving the prefecture except once to watch cherry blossoms, and even then it wasn’t very far, and-
(You’re rambling, Haruna.)
She pauses, quietly, in front of the computer screen that seems to be how she orders food, and though it takes a few minutes of fussing and quiet mumbling, Haruna finally gets one of the stands to produce a small cup of chamomile tea, with honey, just the way she liked it- and while it wasn’t exactly right (as no machine could ever truly make tea perfectly)- it would do.
Tea in hand, Haruna turned to view the rest of the room- and noticed a slightly familiar face.
“Ah- Hisashi-dono...?” Her voice is small, tentative, and the only sound she seems to hear is the small click of her heeled shoes on the floor as she approaches him. “Um... Are you okay?”
A glance to the side.
“... With, ah... Recent events, and all.”
