           “You’re coming out with us tonight, right?”

          “Well.” Not the best ( or most professional ) way to introduce yourself, but something about seeing his friend from forever ago seems to bring out the teenager in him again. “Howdy there, stranger.” 

         “Sam-- wait up. I gotta ask you something.” This is embarrassing. Genuinely embarrassing. Mike would rather be anywhere else right now, but he knows the alternative is having Emily be pissed at him for the rest of forever. The only reason he hasn’t gone to Jess is because he wants to keep it a secret and, honestly, he isn’t sure if she knows what those are. “You know about handbags and stuff, right?”

           “Sam, you know I think you’re great and all but-- this seriously             just better be a meet-up for old times’ sake. No conservationist              talk for at least a half hour. Deal?” 

Look at him! Out and about! Looks like he’s finally starting to recover. 

       “Man, I can’t believe you’d just wail on the birthday boy like that.” He never stood a chance! 

            “I mean, I’d say don’t bleed on the couch but--              Go for it, y’know?”
