Also, 玉/tama, in addition to being a cute name, literally means ‘ball,’ which connects to her devil fruit power! It can also mean ‘jewel’ which is also fitting because Tama is a treasure and I love her.

It's not a very common technique in comics in general, but the way Oda double draws people when he wants to emphasise changes and movement is neat and suits the overall style of One Piece nicely.

Luffy’s trying to be considerate here and I appreciate it, but also this reminds me of how rare it is in any sort of media for characters to just...go to the bathroom.

Tama dubs Luffy アニキ/aniki (big brother) almost immediately after meeting him, which is... so cute. It even has the little dots Oda often uses for emphasis, to give it extra weight.
