they do have the same number of syllables, they each start with an ‘a’ syllable and have a ‘r’ syllable in the middle, and both end with ファ/fa, so i can see why people would compare them. however, i feel pretty confident that alpha’s name is not supposed to be ‘alifa’- if it was it would be spelled like アリファ/arifa in the japanese. ‘alpha’ is probably the intended romanization- that’s what i assumed it was supposed to be when i was reading.

So Drake being literally part of Kizaru’s personal guard force here makes it even funnier that Kizaru just blitzed him on Sabaody with no hesitation. He definitely knew that Drake was working undercover and he was not going to pull any punches despite that!!

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Kizaru’s going to betray the Marines and you can tell that he’s already conflicted here after being present for this entire conversation. Kizaru’s always been interesting because he’s sort of acted as the middle point between Aokiji and Akainu in the sense that Aokiji always followed his own brand of justice and Akainu truly believes that the Marines are the be-all and end-all when it comes to their decisions being absolute. Kizaru follows orders because ‘it’s his job’ and seemingly doesn’t let any personal feelings seep into that belief, but you can tell he’s been struggling and having to go up against Sentomaru, Bonney and Vegapunk all at once has got to be affecting him. Whether it’s enough for him to go against Saturn remains to be seen…

The prototype satellite bringing the drinks in is a nice touch to show the status of how that’s going, but all of these scenes of them happily eating pizza and having good times together while Kizaru is still involved are only emphasizing how plausible his current self having a moral dilemma really is.

Though the casual way Saturn was like ‘yeah he just took out a Warlord’ is sure something since we keep getting these affirmations of how strong Ace really was and that all happened before Haki was really an established thing within the story, so imagining him in the current storyline with all of that integrated more solidly into canon…yeah, he’d be incredibly powerful…

Love seeing all of the original Warlords (and it’s been a long time since we’ve seen these versions of Alvida and Coby) reacting to this, and especially since Mihawk’s apparently just destroyed a ship and has decided now is the best time to read the newspaper.

Bonney asking to come back is cute, too, even though when she does she’s obviously much less happy to see Vegapunk but at least that’s all cleared up now.

This is cute. I’m sure Usopp would be proud of his little pirate crew if he could see them now.
