An assignment had been given to the general of the ShinRa corporation early that morning. It had occurred after a casual meeting to announce the latest reports and news the President had instructed the SOLDIER union executive, Lazard Deusericus, to share with the military troops.
"Your mission for the day has been changed due to the amount of overwhelming line of work you'e been assigned as of late. Instead of sending you, along with a handful of troops, to scout the outer borders of Midgar, we'd like you to check up on the land below the plates," Lazard had explained after escorting the silver-maned male away from curious ears and into his office.
Although Sephiroth had found the change of mission to be utterly offensive, he remained silent and accepted with a mere bob of cranium. Every day he was trained to be fit for the most difficult operations, where results of success were slim to none but he could thrive perfectly well in. Commandeering troops into a mission was also acceptable, for he was the general of the ShinRa SOLDIER and military troops. However, to be given the job a cadet could easily do was what felt insulting to his vast set of skills and abilities...
But his duty to ShinRa came first and foremost, therefore if the union executive and President had mutually agreed on finding purpose for Sephiroth in a task as simple as trekking through the Midgar slums, then so be it. He'd accept, but not without gritting his teeth throughout the entirety of it all.
Not soon after, Sephiroth had packed only his nodachi, Masamune, and a cellphone for emergencies (but he highly doubted it'd be of any use). He traipsed through the busy streets of Midgar until reaching the train that would descend him to the filthy slums...
Once the train braked and hissing vapor misted around it, the male exited the carriage he had resided in temporarily and traipsed his way around the towns mildly hidden by hills of putrid waste. The realization that he had never visited the lower lands struck him momentarily as he stood amidst the garbage and stench.
How could anyone live in such an unhealthy environment?
Movement resumed again, his steps now taken by mere instinct and curiosity to explore this world most, or perhaps, all of the citizens from the higher grounds of the city had ignored willingly. Poverty and illness were present in every corner his jade-hued optics fell upon.
-- ...What a shame.
His mission now forgotten, Sephiroth continued to travel down winding paths void of any life. Mountains of trash greeted him at every sight with the occasional glare from a human being as they recognized him as part of the ShinRa Electric Company. Typical reaction, of course. After an hour or two had swept by, a sight he found astonishing had erupted before him like a beacon of peculiarity.
A church.
