I think the things that really keeps me attached to Destiny are:
1) Ghosts. I mean come on. Only an absolute heartless asshole would hate Ghosts.
2) Those super sweet, low-key motivational, very emotional cutscenes, usually when you finish the vanilla campaigns for D1 and 2 or just really important cutscenes throughout the campaign. I just watched a few old ones from when I completed stuff with my warlock and I'm legit almost crying because of just how wholesome and happy and full of emotion they are. Heck.

(So I was aiming to have a Dawning fic put out months ago, but of course, that hasnât happened yet. Hopefully some day because I really like how its going so far, even if its not done yet. Anyway! This is a short-ish fic I just thought of a couple hours ago and felt the urge to write while I should be working on an essay for one of my classes. For those who do not know me, this is about my warlock, Cerys-8, who is in my header, with her Ghost, Pepin. She is currently between 5 and 6 years old, and this fic is based, like, right now in the game. Just some context. And I hardly write fiction anymore even though I used to a lot, so hopefully this is still okay. Enjoy!)
âââ Hush, Snitch âââ
Cerys-8 transmats into the Annex, giving her shoulders a quick shake as she sighs. She feels a bit beat as the adrenaline wears off from the match, but it was good to blow off that steam.Â
âI do not trust Gambit, but you do make a good Sentry,â Pepin praises her, appearing at her shoulder. âYou are surprisingly good at killing invaders.â
âThanks, Pepin,â Cerys says, strolling up the stairs from the drop pad. âIâm not as stressed about killing other Guardians when theyâre on my side of the terf.â With a snort, she adds, âMy protective mom instinct kicks in then.â That also pulls a chuckle from her Ghost.Â
âI am proud of you for enjoying Gambit and using it to blow off anger. You definitely enjoy it more than the Crucible. You have come a long way in the last year since the Red War, and I am proud of you for opening up more."Â
Cerys glances at Pepin with a smile, and he twirls his shell as a way of smiling back. A few months ago, Cerys would have glared at him for talking about how she used to be, but she definitely has grown and healed lately and has learned how to not be as much of a pouty jerk when heâs just trying to be supportive. She has always appreciated her little friend, her source of life and Light, but she appreciates him even more now as she matures more.Â
"Thanks, little light,â she says. He only gives her a look that is somehow both happy and a snarky glare, then transmats back to her pocket as she enters the Drifterâs hiding spot to deposit some bounties. Pepin doesnât like to show himself around the Drifter, and Cerys doesnât blame him.
âWhy, hello there, sister!â the Drifter exclaims as she strolls up, the man leaning casually against the railing, alone. âIâm glad to see ya. That was a good match ya just had."Â
"Thanks,â Cerys says, acting relaxed. She isnât very comfortable around the Drifter, always feeling nervous that he will try something on her like the stories people whisper about him in private, but she tries her best to act confident and relaxed nonetheless. âIâm just here to return my completed bounties, sir."Â
"Ah, kid, you know you donât need to call me that,â Drifter plays, waving a hand at the remark. âI ainât no âsir.â Iâm just tryinâ ta help younger Guardians like yourself learn the ropes of the real world. And Iâm sure glad youâre on my side.â He has a small, dangerous glint in his eye and undertone in his voice when he says that last bit, but Cerys chooses to ignore it. As best as she can, anyway.
Stay cool, stay cool. Just turn in the bounties and go. She can feel Pepin shudder, trying to hide even more.Â
âAnd I appreciate what youâve taught me,â Cerys says, trying to awkwardly play along. She isnât good at this like the ancient Guardian in front of her, but she still tries her best. âMany of us Guardians are appreciative of that, even those who didnât side with you."Â
"Heh, yeaaah, itâs unfortunate that those kids strayed, but at least most of âem learned something from old Drifter,â he says, looking at the floor as he continues to casually lean. After a moment, he looks back up at Cerys. âThat reminds me. Remember who you sided with."Â
"Uh, of course,â Cerys says, startled. âI sided with you, Drifter."Â
"Oh, I know,â he says, pushing off from the rail. Venom tips his voice, and Cerys can feel itâs sting. âBut Iâm watchinâ you. Seeing what you do, hearing what ya say. I have an eye on everyone, even out of Gambit."Â
"Iâm sorry?â Cerys can feel Pepin wishing he could pull her out of the room, because man is he terrified. He isnât the only one.
Stay cool, stay cool. This is confusing, but stay cool.Â
âYouâre young, and youâre not dumb. But sometimes you arenât too careful when you run your mouth.â The Drifter casual slides up to Cerys, getting within feet of her.Â
She steps a foot back. She can resist the urge to grab her Crimson and aim it at his weasel head, but itâs taking a lot of courage to not run. Drifter only laughs and leans back a bit, trying to act like its all casual despite his tone. That only makes a chill run down Cerysâ exo spine. His smile made of all teeth isnât helping.Â
âYouâre a warlock. Youâre smart. And I like that about you, kid. I really do! But youâre also nosy, too curious for your own good, poking in places you donât belong,â he hisses, his voice growing more quiet and harsh. Yet somehow, he still sounds casual. How does he do that?Â
Cerys has no idea what to say, how to react. Her face is slack, mouth open slightly, eyes wide. She canât move it to say anything, she canât look away from the snake in front of her. Pepin is trying not to scream in fear and anger.Â
âIt wouldnât be so bad if you kept what you found to yourself, but when you run your mouth to others in excitement?â Drifter makes a sad smile and shakes his head, chuckling low, looking down at the floor as he does it before looking back at her with fire in his eyes. His tone has gotten worse. âThat only makes it worse. Especially for you. Harder to trust you. You get what Iâm sayinâ, Cerys? I wouldnât want to give you a snitchâs treatment, and I doubt youâd want it either."Â
"Oh, and that pistol wonât do shit against me."Â
Cerys hadnât even realized that she had pulled her Crimson off her back, holding it at her thigh. She glances at it for a second before looking back at the Drifter, but she doesnât holster it again. She just canât.Â
The Drifter smiles into her soul, all teeth and venom.Â
Cerys can only stare back, eyes wider than before, horrified as ever. Sheâs rarely felt this much dread in her life, and she canât even move to get away from it. He has her rooted to the spot.Â
Suddenly, the Drifterâs whole stance and mood changes. He straights, softens, relaxes. Becomes a whole new man in the smallest fraction of a second. Or, well, back to his old self rather than the demon he was a moment ago. Cerys doesnât move except to follow him with her eyes, and his sudden change startles her further.Â
"Hey, brother! Howâs it going?â he says over her shoulder, taking a few steps back to his original spot, leaning on the rail again like nothing happened.Â
A hunter walks past Cerys to the Drifter, giving his own greeting, apparently entirely unaware of what just happened. Cerys was so snared by fear and the Drifter that she didnât even see or hear him enter the room.Â
Sheâs lucky that wasnât someone he sent to end her right them and there.Â
After a moment of the Drifter chatting away with the Hunter without paying her any mind, Cerys finally feels able to move. She slowly turns and starts to move out of the room in a jerky fashion, her eyes still wide and jaw slightly slack. Her pistol still in her hand. She canât let it go yet.Â
Before she leaves the Drifterâs hide out entirely, she turns half way to look back at him again, just a quick look. The hunter I still there, the two still chatting. But the Drifter looks up for one moment, making eye contact with Cerys. His expression doesnât change, but his eyes fill with venomous fire for a moment, words behind the blaze. Cerys doesnât know what words, but she somehow knows what theyâre trying to say, and her soul is filled with dread again at the warning. Sheâs almost expecting to die on the spot.Â
Then he looks away, only a moment after he looked at her, acting like he never gave her a death glare just a second before or that any of this even happened. Cerys slowly looks forward, up the hall toward the steps leading out of the basement. Eventually she gets her feet to move again, and she starts walking up to the main area in the Tower. She doesnât holster her gun until sheâs all the way out of the Annex.
Some people ask me why I love the Karnstein Armlets so much and refuse to take them off. This is why. Also cuz I just love to punch stuff. @holly-the-titan @fireteam-thickthighs @commander-nekro
Who needs a selfie emote when you can stare straight into a wall instead? Featuring my warlock, Cerys-8, and @holly-the-titan 's currently unnamed titan. I had waaay too much fun taking this screenshot.
I was just in my menu while standing next to Hawthorne, and she said, "You'd make a fantastic perch for the bird at this rate." Exact words. Damn. Way to call me out, Hawthorne. Needless to say I moved almost immediately, even tho I'd be fine with being a perch for Louis.

Man I don't know what it is about this screenshot I got of my kids on Io, but it's fucking beautiful, man. I love it so much, and Cerys and Pepin are lookin great.
Ugh, I wish I had motivation to write right now. I need to write a Dawning story about Cerys, but shit it's so hard to work on it and think of anything to write. I've started it, but I keep drawing a blank and what I've written so far feels bleh. Heck. Maybe I'll read some Destiny OC fits from some other people tomorrow for inspiration.
I'm doing the daily heroic adventure on Io right now, and Asher just called me fleshy. Excuse me sir but I am a fucking Exo. There is nothing fleshy about me you nut.
