I’m playing Destiny 2 again, oh god.
Anyways Destiny 1 has been fun, making me pick up stuff I never did in the second. Honestly feels harder, and I think that’s why I’ve been enjoying it :)
"Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. Sacrifice... leads to death" -The Speaker
This quote I wanted to choose for finally seeing Buungie leave Destiny.
It really breaks my heart to hear this. The first time I got Destiny 1 back in 2014 was when I was 7 (or 6 because my birthday's in November), and that was one of the first games I actually got invested in for YEARS.
Next was Destiny 2 in 2017, and I was so excited to play it. The new story, new powers, new everything. But only after a year the game was out, Cayde-6 was killed in Forsaken, and I felt like that was the first domino to fall in the mix for Destiny 2.
And with more years passing, seeing how the game developed and more DLCs coming out, I could feel my hope for the best story ever dwindling by the second. Sure, I played through every season, every DLC I could, but it didn't feel the same. Especially with the newest DLCs, they didn't feel like the Destiny I grew up to know and love.
Now, after 12 years, LITERALLY growing up with this game, surviving all the random server crashes, getting through glitches, defeating raid bosses, doing solo nightfalls, even against Omnigul who's a c*nt (that is an inside joke with my family, ya'll), and through the Fallen S.A.B.E.R strike (I despise that strike with all my being), I still played, I still love the game deeply, and that it will always be the greatest, funniest, and most saddest memories of my life.
I know I'm not a great writer, but I just wanted to share my experiences with destiny.
Now for the reason I chose this quote and even wanted to make this post in the first place is because I wanted to make a Destiny animation. It'll probably be short, but I wanted to draw what I thought Destiny looked through my eyes playing it.
The quote has Devotion, Bravery, Sacrifice and Death;
My devotion to the game was the start, next was the bravery I felt as a small Warlock (soon turning into a Titan main), sacrifice was when I started to feel the game going downhill but refused to stop playing as in the hopes it would be better, but next came death. Death was when I saw the Renegades DLC. Even if it was a Star Wars-inspired expansion, it was NOT Destiny at all. Nothing felt right, it didn't feel like destiny anymore and I was worried that there would be more DLCs inspired by other games and Destiny wouldn't be Destiny anymore. At least for me.
If you have finished reading this post, thank you so much. Writing this post meant a lot to me and I wanted to share my memories of Destiny.
(Also f*ck Bungie)
Destiny 2 last update is today and Ive been playing this game for 10 years, it got me through a lot of dark places and awesome adventures, I meet some brillant ppl and called them friends today. I stopped playing after The Final Shape - I was pretty burnout of the game - but Destiny will always be with me.
Funny enough, what got me started was the Lore in D1 and I was reading about the game even before I started playing it, the challenges in this game made me a better player overall.
I'm feeling pretty nostalgic and I wanted to write about my cannon guardians who accompanied me in this awesome journey that was Destiny
