orias is a bard and travels with a troupe of minstrels that play music all across the land of cedes and ends up travelling through a dangerous forest rumored to be home to various sorts of beasts. tales of fungi-infested boars twice the size of man and monstrous insectoid creatures standing 10 feet tall are said to hide within the boughs of the forest’s trees. but... her troupe never encountered anything save the odd deer or squirrel. not even rogues or brigands said to make their hideout within the woods.

that’s because the wood’s guardian, ceresc, had been keeping an eye on her u//u he found her troupe to be kind to the forest and not taking more than they need (not that... they were particularly good at hunting sdfdf). it was by chance that he’d stumbled upon them, injured and confused, before collapsing at orias’ feet.

she nursed him back to health (or really just let him sleep...) and he awoke in pain and confused and confused why she showed so much concern over him. he then proclaimed himself a god when she tried to tend to the gash at his side and the wound on his leg and within moments, healed himself. she was so shocked ! but then offered him food anyways and said if he was alright then there was nothing keeping him there heheheh

anyways he ended up following and helping them out behind the scenes until they reached the safety of the Warren ! which is just... lotta bunnies bc um ya. the warren has protective wards stationed around the village to stave off the effects of an oversaturation of mmmmmagic. if u get oversaturated, you can get really sick and it starts to try and assimilate you into the earth so you end up growing plant matter out of yourself (includes; sudden bark growths, fungi and other organic matter, like a cancer). this is called being blighted, and if you go beyond that invisible limit, you’re like an overcharged battery where you begin to need to need to attain outside sources to sustain yourself bc you run out. if you run out completely, you die but before it can even get to that point, you turn into a sort of zombie and try 2 eat things ig to get some mmmagic. at that point. 

anyways, magic is necessary for life to flourish but too much and you become resistant and start dying.

but ceresc is like, a walking generator of it? he became the dragon of the wood’s champion and is bound to her as she is to him and beyond the warren’s cage, he is little more than a wild savage beast. inside the warren? he’s calm and collected, and ever a kind and patient man u//u but he can’t stay for long because even the wards can’t hold him forever and he has to leave...
