In Ancient Greek mythology, the Hecatoncheires are three giants of such strength and ferocity that they helped overthrow the Titans. Also known as “Hundred-Handers,” each giant was said to possess fifty heads and one hundred hands.
The three Hecatoncheires were named Gyges, Cottus and Briareus. The children of the sky god Uranus and the Earth goddess Gaia, they were imprisoned in their youth due to their brutality. However, Zeus freed them so that they could aid the Olympians in their war against the Titans.
