Central Telephone Company, 125 S Las Vegas Blvd – c. 1964
The windowless building's first phase, on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Carson, was designed by Laing-Garrett, Phoenix, and originally built for Southern Nevada Telephone Co. The right/south section was built '58-59 and was dedicated on 9/16/59. The corner was previously occupied by Tower Service Station.
Section phase of the building is the left/north section with the concrete feature, completed in '64. The architect of this phase was JMA Architects, and the pre-cast concrete feature is said to be designed by architect Jack Miller's son (Jim or John) according to Steven Richardson of JMA.
Another addition on the east side of the building was completed in the early 70s.
Southern Nevada Telephone and the Central Telephone merged in '61. Central Telephone later became part of Centel, a lineage continues today under CenturyLink.
