21 - My Muse will tell your muse what they are afraid of
Victoriaâs question seemed surreal to the demon as the young man stared at her with some distrust. He had learned to not trust easily on people. Life taught him that in the worse possible way, not only through his parents but also some of his friends from the past. Life is always reckless when you are a teenager. Jackson wanted to have freedom and feel alive for the first time in his life. That obviously led him to troubles. The biggest mark in his past was his time with the gang. Because of it, not only he distanced himself from his brother, but he also got involved in a bankâs robbery. At the end of the day, the leader of the gang had pretended to kill his brother before he ran away to leave his partners in crime for their terrible fate. Not Jackson. As a sly fox, the dancer had pretended to be a victim of the robbery and nobody suspected of him. It was his salvation.
But there was a clear feeling inside of his chest in that day.Â
Betrayal. Jackson would have done anything to help him. The young man had trusted them, but his so called âfriendsâ betrayed him without a second thought. In that day, the demon found a conclusion for his problem. It didnât matter who they were and for how long they would be in his life, because in the end, they always leave him behind and they always prefer to save themselves before helping him. Thatâs the law of the jungle and with the passing years, Wang Jackson learned how important this was to keep himself alive in a world of vultures.
âWhy do you want to know?â The demon finally asked her after a pause.
The woman shrugged her shoulders at his question. âCuriosity.â
Curiosity killed the cat.
After a moment or two, Jackson finally gave her a proper answer by simply saying: âFreedom.â
It was an irony, indeed. What the demon was scared of was in fact, what he wished to have so much. However, life had taught him once again that freedom always comes with a price.
