Rosie Stardust will tell you she doesn’t pick favorites. How can she when her enthusiasm is extended to everything? That said, it’s clear to anybody who’s met her that one planet in particular preoccupies her mind: Earth. Sure, it’s not perfect. Its people can get cranky and the environment is experiencing some major problems. Even so, there is potential. Some folks have dedicated their lives to fighting against disease, injustice, and pollution. Living amongst them are rare animals, ranging from the largest blue whale to the smallest fly. All of them are connected in an intricate tapestry that depends on each other’s support. Not to mention there’s tandem bicycles, pretzel pizza, race car beds, inflatable pools, electric scooters, redwood trees, and pogo sticks! How can anybody not love pogo sticks? Hence why, despite its faults, the Cosmic Cutie is always eager for another trip back to Earth.
Just like I was eager to color this pic. Full disclosure, this was actually sketched last year along with some other Rosie thumbnail pics. After a while I just completely forgot about them. Until randomly discovering them on my thumb drive, that is. Yeah, now might be a good time for a coloring job. Especially with my computer overheating when anybody breathes on it. Running illustrator is practically challenging my computer not to crash. Mercifully that didn’t happen while working on this. Honestly, this picture came out far better than I had expected. Earth especially looks great due to some experimentation in cel shading. My only real complaint lies with the moon, since it looks nothing like the real deal. Oh well. In the end I loved working on this and I hope you all love it too!
