Guys, I started my practice journal this week. For both cello and piano. Is it silly for me to say that I already feel like getting to know myself and my cello (/piano) and my playing better? I also write down things that my teacher says during the lessons, and inĀ āherā notebook I put all the notes that she sends me after the lesson. Itās like I slowly regain some balance I didnāt know I didnāt have at the first place.
Also, a question to fellow cellists: if you keep a practice journal, how do you cope with having it beside you during your practice? Iām suddenly grateful I have two chairs in my room,Ā ācause I can put my notebook on the spare one...
Iām really pleased about todayās practice; it was a bit shorter than during past two weeksā, but I finally started reallyĀ working on my concerto (Nƶlck, Concertino in D Major). I donāt want to do much without my teacher (thankfully we have lessons via Skype), but the small cantabileĀ part sounds great and wasnāt too hard (I almost sight-read it, which Iām happy about).
The second fantastic thing is that I found Gluckās Dance of the Blessed SpiritsĀ from his Orpheo und EuridiceĀ in arrangement for cello. (Funny thing: the Melody, its first part, comes in G Major, and then the actual Dance is either in C Minor or B Minor... which one should I choose?) Iām thrilled because thatās one of my favourite things I played on flute, and now I get to play it on cello. I started reading it --- just the first phrase through repetition, and Iām giddy to play the rest tomorrow.
My second cello teacher is more strict but man is she good, she's also interested in my snakes so I love that for her

I'm uninstalling the mobile app cause this cello hoe has cellistic shit to do
in my shortcuts bar the online practice room booking system somehow has the tumblr logo and i keep ending up there instead, like my computer is reminding me to practise instead of going on tumblr
Final Practice
Well, the semester has come to an end, and so have my lessons. My instructor and I agree that not practicing/learning on my own all summer is a bad idea(because I'd develop bad habits), so I'm turning in my cello today, and won't pick it up again until probably August. It kinda sucks, because I've gotten so used to it and want to keep getting better, but I guess I don't want to go backwards by ruining hard-fought practice with bad habits. Uploading final versions of the latest songs I've learned.Ā Be warned, they sound better in person. My computer's microphone is awful.Ā
