I recommend you listen to the song first before reading, this way, you can visualise the vibe I was going for.
I would also recommend you read in order.
The Stories that I have written are not necessarily canon but do include the characters, of which I do not own.

1. Friends Never Say Goodbye - (589 Words)
This song is from the movie “The Road to El Dorado” the one on Spotify is the Elton John version. I couldn’t find it but here is a YouTube link
A broken man is kneeling on the gravelled pathway, the dusk glow hinting to a gold ring lying still on the floor as he watches the love of his life walk away. He gave her everything she could’ve ever dreamed of and yet she chose his best friend over him, a man of Uniform who has done nothing for her.
He rubs his eyes as he musters the strength to stand again. He walks back into the mansion and scans the home that once was filled with joy and light, is now hollow, just like himself. The curtains that were once the colour of strawberries have dulled to the colour of stale wine and the echoes of his childhood are gagged by the over bearing silence that sits thickly inside the Manor. He trudges up the dark staircase, his Cigar Robe draping behind him as he catches a glimpse of the new couple outside one of his many windows.
The broader silhouette takes the fragile hand of his ex wife and guides her to his car. The last bit of daylight hovers over them, like a halo as they share a passionate kiss like the ones in the many Romance Movies they used to watch together. The pair joins together like they were moulded specifically for one another.
Those lips were once his to kiss.
Casted into the shadows of his Manor, he shuts the curtains and continues walking to his chambers.
He reaches his hand over to an array of photo frames on his desk, each one a precious memory, and picks up a particular photo of himself, and what once was one of his closest companions. It hits the wall and glass covers the tear-stained carpet.
As William walks away from the Manor, he looks down at the Raven haired woman he fell madly head over heels for. How did he ever get so lucky?
The Colonel’s frame was a strong reminder that he shouldn’t apologise for his actions. Mark never did love Celine and the lady was desperate for an escape. He was glad that she turned to him for comfort and he felt pride in knowing secrets her Husband never would. He knows he did the moral thing of preventing something that could’ve snowballed into something much larger in the future, and for once, in a very long time, he didn’t need to prove anything to anyone. He fought for what was right without having the urge to spare bullets.
And yet his broad shoulders could only carry so much.
He overlooks the golden hue that’s settled upon his lover and he smiles. His heart will forever be hers and he couldn’t imagine life being anymore blissful than this. She saw something that not many people did - behind that stone exterior was a big softie wanting someone to be his.
William glances back at the sunset kissed house one last time before locking eyes with the love of his life. He holds her in a comfortable embrace before swooping in for a long-awaited kiss. Time stopped and all he could think about was her.
His Celine.
The new couple climb into his 1920′s Mustard Bentley and drive away from the Manor’s Gates.
The home he once loved became a dot in the distance and a distant memory.
The childhood souvenirs that resided within that house plague both men and would forever be a consistent reminder of the loss of innocence the two men now have and the spark of youth that the two boys once shared.
