Posted @withregram • @norman_parkinson Happy Birthday Celia Hammond who was born on this day, 25 July, 1941. Hammond took a fashion modelling course at the Lucie Clayton Academy and was a contemporary of Jean Shrimpton, at the same agency. Overlooked by other photographers, she was spotted there by Norman Parkinson who helped launch her career and covince editor Jocelyn Stevens to give her an exclusive one year contract. She became one of his leading muses of the 1960s and was featured regularly in Queen magazine in the years 1961-4 and subsequently in Vogue when he returned to the magazine in 1965. In the meantime she had been photographed by many other leading names of the era from Bailey to Terence Donovan. Hammond is pictured wearing a pink coat by Pierre Cardin which was published in Queen magazine, February 1962.
