“Are you ready yet?” Peter’s words are laced with impatience and roll your eyes at the notion that he thinks you’re taking too long. As if you didn’t just spend nearly an hour browsing the shelves of a tech store. 

“Almost,” you call out, glancing at yourself in the floor length mirror one last time. You’re wearing a soft red sundress that falls just below your knees, decorated with little flowers and bursting with color. You smooth out the fabric, turning this way and that and trying not to let the insecurities nipping at your brain to overcome your love for the dress. Because you do really love the dress. “Okay.”

You pull back the curtain in one swift motion. 

Peter is slouched back on the tiny couch stationed in front of the dressing rooms, his head tilted to stare at the ceiling; but his lazy posture evaporates when his eyes land on you. 

He nearly falls on the floor with the speed that he straightens, his eyes blowing wide as they rake over your nervous form. You smile sheepishly and shrug. 

“Well?” you wonder. “Is it okay?”

Peter’s mouth opens and closes like a fish out of water and for a moment the only words he can manage are, “Oh my god,” 

You laugh, feeling heat rise to your own cheeks. “Good or bad?”

He shakes his head, a smile splitting his face. “You look- I’m- wow.”

You tangle your fingers in the fabric again. “Reassuring,” you joke. 

“You look like an angel,” he breathes and you snort at the indication. “I’m not kidding, you look... wow.”

“Final answer?”

“Why haven’t we bought it yet? Holy shit.”
