Recovery
The crash of thunder woke the woman from her slumber, a sharp gasp escaping her lips as she struggled to get a hold of herself. It was then that she noticed the warmth of another body, she looked up. “Right..” She thought. She had almost forgotten the past few hours.
There he was, sleeping soundly just under her. Ciele, the man that not just a few weeks ago to be a stranger. But, then again, he was still mostly a stranger. Sure, they had been having small conversations here, and there. But, that didn’t make up for time spent. If not for the obvious mutual feelings between the two, she wouldn’t have dared even inviting him out to Highmountain. She did though, and he accepted.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t thankful for his presence, in fact, she appreciated that she had someone to lay against when she’d been awoken in the night. Things had just escalated so quickly. They’d went from vaguely discussing each other’s feelings, and little details of their lives to this. He’d just taken the reigns into his own hands and pulled her into that kiss, sealing the deal. She knew she’d felt something for him, but at that moment the flame had ignited in her hardened heart, melting it deep within.
She laid there for awhile, listening to the pitter-patter of rain against the hut’s roof. Her singular eye would rest on his face, watching him take those soft breaths in the light of the fire. As her mind slowed once more, sleep threatening to take her, she couldn’t help but smile, if only a little.
Even though it had all happened so fast, she was glad. They both needed someone to lean on, by some odd twist of fate, they’d ended up together.
