Our "Celebrating Walker" event has come to an end. While there is so much more about Walker to love than what we covered in this event, I enjoyed seeing everyone's opinions and takes on their favorite things about Walker.

I just wanted to make this post and thank everyone that participated. Putting on events like this is a lot of work and part of that comes from the pressure to deliver entries of my own on the offchance that no one else does. Seeing entries from so many of you, including @eye-of-elena and @theladywyn, made me feel a million times better.

Plot that should've been explored more

I, like most of you, didn't really enjoy the plot of Geri being the missing Davidson baby in season 2. But, the main reason I hated it is because of how rushed it seemed and how little sense it made. I think they could've made it work if they dedicated more time to it and worked it more seamlessly into the existing story. Maybe an unpopular opinion, maybe not, I don't care.

I feel like there was a lot from season 2 that could've been done better, but this plot in particular always gets me. Why did Marv get rid of Geri without telling Gale? Why pick Frank to raise her? Why did Gale not try to find Geri sooner? Why did we get so many episodes waffling on this while The Race and it's bogus results were ignored?

Every time I think about it, I think about how just one or two more revisions could've made the world of a difference. One or two more carefully placed conversations and some more logistical details hammered out, and this plot could've been something we remembered fondly for its emotional impact rather than scorned for its confusing twists and unnecessary turns.

Favorite single episode plot

I had to give this one to our boy.

Cordell's birthday was a short and sweet plot that kicked of season 4 really well. His excitement for the steak-eating competition was well hyped before he sadly had to cancel them. Watching the family scramble to come up with an even better surprise party for him was fun and seeing the whole family (Rangers included) get together to celebrate was a perfect start to the season.

Favorite Ranger Plot

I know i'm not the only one who enjoyed the front half of season 2 more than the back half and a lot of that had to do with the plotline surrounding Serano and the final takedown of North Side Nation from season 1.

Serano was a great antagonist that really made an impact despite how few episodes he was in. The way his arrogance mixes with his paranoia to inform all his decisions shows us how he's maintained his position in North Side Nation for so long. And every interaction he had with Cordell was perfect with some classic Cop v Villain banter.

Favorite Family Plot

I may be once again venturing into unpopular opinion territory but I really enjoyed the plot behind the Necklace this season. The glimpse into Hoyt's past, seeing the Walker children start to venture out on their own, and everything about Sadie. It could've used a couple more episodes but I really enjoyed it.

I loved all the Stella-Cordell parallels, giving us hints of more unhealthy habits passed down the Walker line. I also loved what we got from Sadie; I feel like this plot expanded on her character in a clever way and I appreciated some of the Hoyt parallels we got with her as well.

And, as much as it irks me that all of it came after his death, I love the depth we got for Hoyt. We got backstory, we got motivations, we even got great flashbacks.

Favorite Season Arc

It's an oldie, but a goodie. The mystery behind Emily's murder took up the entirety of season one, ending in an explosive twist in the penultimate episode, and I loved every second of it. There's so much to love- the way her death tore Cordell apart, and the whole family, the way everyone handled her death differently, the way everyone handled their own grief differently, the way her death echoed throughout the show...... What more can I say? It's a classic for a reason and Walker handled it beautifully.

Though we will all be celebrating Walker in our own way for many months to come, it's the last week of this particular event and I saved the juiciest prompts for last.
