let down by radiohead / greywaren by maggie stiefvater
been a while without the energy to blog (tragic) so I am back with a long-awaited TRC poll.
Which TRC/TD3 car is your favorite?
The Pig/Gansey's Camaro
Ronan's BMW
The Shitbox (Adam's car)
The Fox Way Ford
The Champagne Catastrophe (Mr. Gray's rental car)
1/100 white Mitsubishis
Noah's red Mustang lost in the woods
Henry's Fisker
Declan's Volvo
Burrito the invisible car
The engineless Camaro (that Ronan gifts Blue for graduation)
Gansey's Suburban (the President Cellphone car)
thinking mi thoughts again so. it’s just very interesting to me that the conversation between adam and ronan where they discussed what would happen if you pulled a copy from a dream and needed to kill it. ronan of course hates killing things and would not want to kill the copy. just very interesting that this conversation was included and then bryde was later revealed to be a dream. makes me think that he’s going to need to be killed but ronan won’t be able to do it, or maybe he WILL and that’s like the final moment of buildup to his arc or something idk i’m not a writer
declan and niall backstory honestly

edit to my beautiful Declan Kills The Fuck Out Of The New Fenian The Second Greywaren Cuts And Also The Epilogue Is A Sepsis Dream AU: declan is surprised fenian has blood (which is very much dripping onto the wood floor) because when he was like 7 he actively tried to axe murder get rid of Matthew and it was the equivalent of cutting into one of those big fluffy hard plastic chucky dolls. Niall found him and was like [Alvin and the chipmunks voice] DECLAAAAAAN. I'm going to get a shovel wrap that thing up before ronan wakes up. but by the time niall came back Matthew was sitting up perfectly in one piece again. Declan felt mildly bad about the failed attempted murder so he decided to be extra nice to Matthew ever since
thinking about the potential of td3 again and going crazy insane.
one complaint i see abt greywaren specifically a lot is that Ronan being in a coma for over half the book is a huge detriment. but i disagree. i think taking Ronan out of his own trilogy--the trilogy of books all named for him, in the final installment named after his truest form--could actually be so fucking cool. If we just hadn't also spent half the book in his POV while unconscious.
personally i think we should have gotten NO Ronan POV until he woke up. none. we should have been fully speculating about whether or not he would wake up. we should have been questioning how much he could perceive while asleep, and what he would know when he woke up. because we could still get the Mór-Niall flashback chapters, and glimpses of the sweetmetal sea when Adam goes in to scry for Ronan.
because there is no scene that we see through Ronan's sleeping mind that would not be the same or better in another POV. the Adam-Ronan breakup from Adam's POV (to better understand why he did it) or Declan's (to feel the borrowed betrayal). the Jordan-Declan proposal through one of their eyes. the Adam-Ronan reunion in Adam's POV as he casts out into the darkness to this lace-like entity that he knows is Ronan. etc etc.
I guess what I’m saying is that in the end, I think the “Ronan Trilogy” should’ve been less about what makes Ronan special in a cosmic sense, and more about the people who make Ronan who he is as a human.
