love
love — write a drabble of your character realizing they’re in love with mine.
when they first met, it was sunny and unbearably hot. at first, the card was just a friendly face, a nice friend to have that he’d hang around with every so often. he remembers the initial introduction, one that consisted of his own truths and the other’s lies. he’d accepted it nevertheless, and now?
well, now he couldn’t be happier.
his face never shows it, lips staying in a tight, straight line even when his heart pounds in his chest, even when the card snuggles against his side and falls asleep that way, even when he sees the younger shift while he’s only somewhat secretively drawing him.
( the feeling burns slowly at the start of it all, a small tightening of his chest that turns to shortness of breath to ideas that swirl in his head. ideas of the simplest of things, from holding hands to just sitting within the same room, and soon enough he finds his ideas turn to wishes that turn to undeniable want.
his feelings changed with the seasons; where the heat of the sun once gave way to subtle happiness, the cool breeze brought about a gentle wish, and now the biting cold gives him a swelling feeling in his chest that somehow keeps his entire body warm. and where the heat of the sun once gave way to dark lies, the cool breeze brought about white ones, and now the biting cold gives him truth. )
he takes his lower lip between his teeth, gently nipping at it as he draws. he stays silent as not to rouse the card from sleep, and in the back of his mind he can’t help but think how peaceful the other looks this way: his face free from irritation or concentration, mouth parted slightly and breathing gentle and slow — peaceful.
he leans in to get a closer look, shoulder brushing against the younger’s as their noses almost touch; he hadn’t paid attention to just how far he’d leaned, though he’s comfortable with this — comfortable with watching, with every little detail he takes in.
a slight movement of the other’s head startles him and he immediately begins to lean back, though he feels arms snake around his neck and, when he meets the card’s eyes, he freezes in place.
“taehyunie hyung,” the boy all but whines, and it’s cute (taehyun thinks he just might die if the boy keeps that up), “stay here. i’m comfortable.”
“jeongguk-ah..” taehyun trails off, and jeongguk obviously sees it as resistance because in the next moment there’s a gentle peck being placed on his cheek. his cheeks turn red at the action and he falls silent, eyes shifting from the triumphant little grin on jeongguk’s face to the fabric of the boy’s shirt as he rests his head on his shoulder.
jeongguk’s influence on him is great — so great that such a small action leaves his mind going into a state of overdrive that consists of a conflict of emotions that includes one he’s been on the fence about for quite some time: love.
but now, in the hacker’s loose embrace, cheek resting against his shoulder, he can feel his heart almost aching with how much it wants this very thing; the warmth is overpowering despite the wintry weather, and he finally knows for sure that, in this moment, he loves jeon jeongguk.
and he’s sure jeon jeongguk loves him, too.
( it’d be a shame if the kind words and romantic gestures were all a lie. )
