“Ugh.” The second Tate said it wasn’t blood, Lorna moved away and picked another spot to begin painting over. If Moira loved cleaning so much, then she could certainly take care of that. The very last thing Lorna wanted to do was take someone’s joy…and honestly? Not touching that ‘bloody looking but not blood’ stain wasn’t high on her list of things to do today. “Maybe we can just let Moira deal with that one…”
But kinda secretly she did want to know what it was.
“Baby blue is pretty. Brings in light and life…something this place sorely needs. Even you have to admit that.” She dabbed the paintbrush into the paint and went back to work on her part of the wall. “And besides, it was on sale. Probably the reason it’s so cliché is because no one ever buys it unless it’s dirt cheap.” Or they just liked a room that looked like someone exploded a baby shower cake all over. Either way, it was better than…
Whatever that stain was.
“So how much problem do you think we’re going to get when I start letting mutants stay here? Not everyone will be as open and willing to have conversations with you guys as I am. I know what happened to the people who lived here before, and I’d rather not see the same thing happen to unsuspecting people who’ve been through enough. Know what I mean?” Lorna turned to face him, smile fading just a bit. “Who do I need to be worried about?”
