Is it a huge deal if I create a CCCat OC if I credit the creator of the species, make it clear it’s an unofficial CCCat, etc?

I don’t have a means of paying for an official one, nor do I have the time or availability to try to claim a free one

I know that doesn’t really make it ok for me to go against the creators wishes, but I must admit I don’t really see an issue besides maybe bumming out the creator on the rare chance that they hear about this

Is it really that unreasonable to not want to pay $100 just to draw a cool character? I feel like for the most part you’re paying for the lore & art, so if I’m not claiming/using the lore and I’m drawing it myself..

And what would the difference be compared to something like redesigning a species from a show?
