“I was hoping to have a word with Barnes before we split ways for good," Riley says, "is that alright, Walter?”
Walter shrugs, “Sure.”
Danny skitters forward with me on their back. Oh hey, this is my chance!
“Er, alone.”
Walter frowns. I can see him doing the math in his head.
”Walter, I need this,” I say.
Walter studies me. He doesn’t know the appalling things I said to Riley or why I want this, so he’ll have to trust me. He nods. “Well, it’s a good thing the trains run all night.”
“Thank you, Walter!”
“Rain and I will be up the path,” he gives a serious look to the surgus. Knowing them, they probably want in on all the hot goss. Rain sighs, and slaps Danny on the carapace.
”I think she said ‘alone’. Even beasties.”
“Oh!” Danny says, “of course,” I jump down onto the sideway, and Danny waves at me with three of their top legs. ”Alright, Coach! Don’t screw this up!”
”Ah. Thanks, Danny.”
Chapter 34 of Canned Brain in Trat Sauce is up! Sorry for the abrupt ending! And thanks to everybody who read! I loved writing this story. I'm surprised how it blossomed into something much bigger. When I first started writing, there was an election in my country, and I wanted to humiliate fictional rich white guys. I wrote five chapters over a week for fun...and then it kept going. But as time went on, I realized I wanted my protagonist to Get Better. I suppose I really do suck at writing a protagonist who I actually hate.
