Nox is not amused about him trying to chat him up about what he's doing. Chase is not amused about having to wait half an hour to do his job. It's hopeless, really.

Deacon had a cat named Lucy Cat as a kid (she died when he was 15 and when Chase was 13). Lucy was a barn cat, a fact that neither Beth nor Deacon knew when they adopted her.

Weirdly enough, Lucy Cat liked being an indoor cat. She catches the (very few) mice in their home & was smart enough to pick up that Beth and Deacon hated mice & wanted them OUT so she just chucks the mouse's bodies in the neighbor's backyard.

well this is what i headcanon why he doesn’t

Animal fact 2: Depending on the species, crocodiles can lay 7 to 95 eggs.

That lasts for like, an hour. He starts ranting about So-and-So being a piece of work and about That Couple™️ that shouldn't be one, but is. Chase is delighted. Nox has to go outside and reconnect with nature in order not to flip a table, at one point. As the program ends he's stroking Chase's hair and they're both dozing off and he's secretely had his fun- but he won't admit it out loud.

(Bonus if Deacon enjoys period piece dramas but he has to take a break from them because both him and everyone else is kinda burnt out from going into stories, so he joins the reality TV fun sometimes. He's NOT amused. But he also joins in with the other two on the sassing the people on the screen.)

But Nox hates answering to unknown numers, so he doesn't, and to his contempt the calls just keep going on for days and days, up to the moment he decides to pick up in order to tell whoever the hell it is on the other line off. In the worst way possible. As one does.

Cue some arguing, Chase calling Nox again and again just to sing songs he knows he'll hate with his acoustic guitar, and Nox maybe getting used to the new routine. Perhaps there might even be a proper serenade in the middle of everything.
