born in acacia to a blacksmith and a healer, the earliest parts of lina’s life are surrounded in a dreamlike haze when she calls upon them. the family was content, happy even, set to live a simple life in the western kingdom. unfortunately, tragedy would strike - a construction accident while their father worked to build their new home - would leave the denault children fatherless at a young age. lina’s mother took the death of her husband very hard, but continued her work as a healer to provide for her daughter and son. 

things were a bit less comfortable following her father’s death - meals were sometimes skipped, garments often worn threadbare - but the denaults remained as close as ever, leaning on each other for support to get through it all. unfortunately, another loss would soon face them - her mother succumbed to a case of pneumonia contracted from a patient, leaving lina and her brother orphaned.

feeling lost - lina was happy to have training to orient herself around, but when that came to an end at 18, she truly felt the absence of her family’s foundation she had always been tethered to. she had one goal - protect her brother, her only remaining family member, as he continued to train as a soldier. 

first she took up an apprenticeship with a baker which quickly came to an end when she burned a lady’s wedding cake, and then another with a local tailor. while struggling, once again, to hone the skills that would allow her to advance, she met her saving grace in the form of a wealthy merchant. her flirted with her at first, not the first client to do so, but it was his offer of a better life that truly intrigued her.

finally, able to capitalize off the one thing that had always served her - her looks. he became her first client, the merchant, but slowly, he introduced her to friends - each wealthier and more esteemed - and she charmed them all, until finally she joined the ranks of the women favored by the royal courts.

since she was 20 years old, she’s kept the company of high-ranking knights and nobles. it suits her. she makes a good living by playing into a fantasy, but she can remove herself from it when she returns home for the night. at least, usually. things have gotten a bit messy recently, though.

hello everyone, it is me sky, here with a second child. meet mathilde elizabeth forester, better known as maud. 

Maud’s father was born and raised in Eden, the youngest son of a lord with no hope to ever gain a title or land of his own, but enough riches to start his own company. So he became a merchant, travelling the kingdoms and importing from beyond, selling and trading goods. He made himself a small fortune before meeting a bright and beautiful inventor of Solis. It was love, they claimed. She a creator, him a seller. A perfect match. And so he married her and settled in Solis, planting his own roots. They would go on to have three children, daughter, son, daughter. The eldest was just like her father; pragmatic, charismatic, a natural salesperson and charmer. The son was quieter, his mind never one to turn off, and he grew up in the shadows of brilliance and learnt from it well.

She was the youngest of the three. A storyteller from the time she could speak. Weaving plots and characters together, it was her passion and her gift. While her sister was groomed for the business of their father, and her brother would tinker in their mother’s workshop, Maud was more often left alone with her quill. After all, she was no salesperson and she could hardly be trusted in the workshop- she had a bad habit of breaking things when trying to fix them.

Of course she would help out where she could. She would accompany her father on his trips, work in his shop when requested. But she had never enjoyed it. The trips were fun- it allowed her to hear new stories, ones that belonged to the people outside of Solis. She could often be caught listening to the bards sing their songs, telling the stories of the people.

She wrote poems and books, but none had truly made her feel complete until she discovered the stage. That was what she wanted. Not to be on the stage, but to write what the actors were saying, to tell her stories to an audience who could see them happen. And so she began writing plays.

Maud found a company of actors who were willing to preform her work, and has been with them ever since. They frequently travel the kingdoms, putting on shows. Maud has been working with the same company for seven years, putting out multiple productions. She’s accomplished and well known among the theatre circles. Most of her works fall into the satirical or tragedy genres.

( i’ll work on this more later )

 B A C K G R O U N D

• elion warrick fleming was born to augustus  and  marianne  fleming nine years after their firstborn, nicholas fleming.

• his parents weren’t warm or particularly good at showing their affections. they loved him, just as they loved their other children, but their way of showing it was...unique.

• he never wanted for anything ( other than actual affection ) and he received the best education that their royal money could buy. they even allowed him a somewhat unorthodox combat instructor. in truth, he was perhaps the only instructor that managed to hold Eli’s attention enough to get him focused. he began lessons at age seven and by the time he was sixteen, he was considered one of the best swordsmen in aura. it’s something he loves and he considers it just as much of an art as painting or music. it’s a dance and though his style can be quite showy and dramatic, he takes it seriously. mostly.

• as a child, it was hard to get him to focus. he had the energy of a hummingbird and the attention span of a puppy. his parents, tutors, and nursemaids were at a loss. no matter how much they attempted to subdue him, whether it was with punishments or incentives, nothing ever seemed to stick aside from his swordsmanship training and art. like his brother, he discovered his love of art early on. if not for nicholas, it may have been stomped out of him as well, but his brother had a knack for looking out for him. his siblings, much to his parents chagrin shielded him from a lot. with their help and his ability to withdraw into his imagination, he was able to keep his passion, curiosity and optimism toward the world intact.

• this sometimes brought good fortune, like when he was eight and managed to save the life of a hunter who’d gotten into a bind in the forest or the friends he made with the commoners of aura. others times it brought woe, once in the form of being gullible enough trust the word of a smuggler or to have his heart broken by his muse.

• he was young, barely 15, when he fell over heels. he didn’t care who knew. didn’t care what his parents thought. she was the one, they were in love, and his work-- it flourished because of it. that is-- until he caught her in a tryst with a stablehand. he’s unsure of the details, honestly. all he knew was that she’d not only betrayed his trust...but he looked like a fool. he’d given her everything his young heart could and she felt nothing in return. eventually they were able to move past it, he even considers her a friend now, but he hasn’t loved like that since. he prefers playful frolics and flings, nothing more. even in the few courtships he’s had since, he’s held himself back.

• needless to say when his brother, now king, proposed marriage to gain an alliance with the kingdom of Eden, Elion was not thrilled. the idea, while sound, could have easily been forged with another of their siblings or even a duke. not that he had anything against princess Willow. he didn’t know her. they’d seen each other in passing only. there was no way he was the best suited. he was ill equipped and out of touch with kingdom politics. he would’ve preferred to be granted the permission to travel and continue his focus on his art. not settle down with a wife.

clive was raised solely by their grandmother, a shoemaker, who has since passed but was a woman who could be very unforgivingly blunt and held her faith very dear to her. they had a very complicated and contradictory relationship, as she was a very conflicting person by what seemed like nature. one day she’d encourage clive and their craft, insisting on presents in the shapes of harps and flutes, and the next she’d be saying their name in vain and wishing them dead due to clive’s oddities. clive’s parents are a mystery to them, only ever praised or never mentioned by their grandmother, so if you asked clive they’d give you a made-up answer.

they grew up in a small, cluttered home, and would often wander off elsewhere to play music and lie in the grass of the small property for hours. with not much known distant family and only a few peers to perform for, clive was quite isolated within themselves, and this is something that has trickled into adulthood.

clive is a very theatric performer! down to ridiculous hairstyles and makeup, they’re very much inspired by thought-provoking plays, liturgical dramas, the unexplored grotesque and a comical take on traditional beauty of the times. clive has traveled near and far performing his acts which include instrument playing & singing with bits and bobs of dialogue

sophronia’s story !

— The story starts before Sophronia is born, with the tyrant king Arthur and his beloved general Gaheris. Gaheris came from a distinguished noble family, well-liked by the people of Acacia, with a reputation for his kindly nature. But when someone from Gaheris’ extended family is accused of treason, Arthur dealt with the traitor’s family harshly, and had no choice but to get rid of Gaheris too. He left behind a daughter, his wife having passed in childbirth.

— With no home and no family, a one-year-old Sophronia is taken in by the royal family of Acacia. She is spoilt and pampered and treated with all the best a one year old could deserve. She grows up under the attention and care of Arthur, surprisingly doting of a father towards her, his wife, her manner of care more from a distance, and Dominic, who soon becomes her beloved brother.

— They call her Fortune’s Favourite, so lucky to be the king’s ward. So lucky to grow up royalty. So lucky to have everything she could ever want and more. And she is, isn’t she? And so she plays the part well, the charming princess, a sheltered rose at court. Bright eyes, bright smile, bright laughter, paired with glittering words, glittering jewellery, glittering palaces. (Where does the act stop and where does the girl start?)  

— Still the palace is large and lonely — where can you sleep well in the house of the king who made your father disappear? She finds solace in Dominic, her only refuge, the only one who understands what she’s going through under Arthur’s harsh tutorage. He teaches her swordfighting when she’s too afraid to look for Arthur’s guidance, and she lets him appear weak, for once, in this kingdom where only the strong survive.  

— And then Arthur dies, and Dominic becomes king. He lets her indulge in the finer things in life, everything that Arthur wouldn’t let her have. And sure, it’s like she can finally breathe after twenty years of Arthur’s rule, but where does she go from here? 

personality !

generous, kind, charming — sophronia is virtually loved by all, the perfect image of poise and elegance, exactly what royalty should be like. she gives her attention (and money) lavishly and lovingly. 

frivolous, fanciful, oblivious — she has a tendency to be excessive and carefree in her actions. it’s not that she does this on purpose, but it’s just as likely that you tell her this is how she’s seen as and she would have no idea.

ONE — A close servant who's served Sophronia for quite some time now. They're familiar with every aspect of the princess's life, being one of her close confidantes, knowing who's in her favour today and who isn't tomorrow, how she truly feels about how she became the king's ward through her father's death, and how thankful she is that she hasn't been forced into a marriage — yet. But they also see her uglier sides — the occasional tendency for petulance and entitlement. They're not exactly sure how they feel about her behind the glittering jewellery and excitable demeanour she exudes at royal parties, but then again, who can really be sure what the real Sophronia is like? 

TWO — Every good story has a princess and her white knight. They're not exactly royal, but they've been in love with her for so long now that they're more or less blind to her faults. They'll eat up every scrap of attention she gives them — which is, a lot, but she has this wonderful talent of making you feel like you're the only person in the world. Funnily enough, that's also how she enjoys being treated. But you know — could you ever accuse Sophronia of something as horrible as leading them on? Or does the princess really have feelings for them in return — assuming anything she could ever feel for anyone is real?

Okay okay, I’ll stop rambling and let you get to know a bit about the kid!

Inigo Augustus Moreau was born second youngest to the royal family, entering the world silently much to the concern of the nurses tending to him. This was not in response to any plights during delivery, but an intrinsic part of him.

He remained a particularly quiet child, minding his own business and straying from adventure whenever he was prompted to explore. He much preferred studying and tending to his younger sister once she came along.

While he did harbor an instinct to protect Willow, any semblance of bravery was extremely difficult for him to conjure. His limbs would seize, his breath would hitch, and the air would tighten around him, leaving him useless in an altercation. He’s never quite been able to relinquish this pesky vice, but he’s resilient nonetheless, and still strives to become less skittish in the face of danger.

This was especially proven upon challenging a commoner boy to a duel to prove his strength, where Inigo subsequently lost his left hand and was given a silver hand mold as a prosthetic, stunting both his courage and his self-esteem.

During his recovery, and as Eden was a land of bountiful vegetation, Inigo gained an interest in gardening. He spent his youth garnering more knowledge about the craft, finding a great sense of peace when interacting with flora and fauna alike. Eventually, he came to grow a garden of his own that he tended to daily. It’s where he spent his time recovering from particularly stressful days.

Admittedly, Inigo has been prone to ignoring his princely duties, although he’s hardly able to forget them. He’s afraid of the power he wields and wishes to be free of it, but alas everything is far too complex for him to simply disappear, so he remains ambivalent at the prospect of undertaking more than what his title entails.

Connections:

1. Anyone who's proficiently skilled in combat that he employs independently to help train him. As a child, Inigo was prone to accidents and therefore more sheltered when it came to weapons and dueling. Now that he's an adult and responsibilities have arisen, he feels the need to acquire that missing skill. From honorable knight to feared assassin, he'll accept anyone's help.

HER  MENTOR  ;  i  imagine  this  character  to  be  an  older  muse  who  is  either  related  to  elena  or  an  old  family  friend  to  the  taliesin’s.  they  often  visited  the  family  farm  when  elena  was  growing  up  and  taught  her  all  she  knows  about  music  and  storytelling.  when  her  parents  fell  into  debt  ,  they  asked  for  elena’s  mentor  for  help.  they  then  took  elena  to  aura  where  a  year  or  so  later  elena  began  her  career  as  a  bard.  they  keep  her  grounded  as  she  becomes  a  popular  performer  at  high  society  parties.  they  don’t  necessarily  have  to  live  together  ,  but  i  would  imagine  they  spend  a  lot  of  time  together  as  the  mentor  takes  the  role  as  elena’s  kind  of  manager.  

HER  BENEFACTOR  ;  this  person  is  responsible  for  elena’s  growing  popularity  as  a  musician.  they  were  the  first  person  who  rubs  elbows  with  the  high  and  mighty  to  hire  her  at  a  lavish  party  and  elena  will  forever  owe  them  that.  i’d  imagine  they’d  be  acquainted  for  at  least  a  year  and  that  the  benefactor  is  under  her  thumb  ,  they  keep  hiring  her  and  inviting  her  to  high  society  parties  and  dinners.  both  of  them  are  using  the  other  for  things  ,  the  benefactor  for  elena’s  company  and  elena  for  their  money.  this  relationship  displays  how  manipulative  elena  can  be  as  the  benefactor  may  have  strong  feelings  ,  whether  they  be  platonic  or  romantic  ,  for  her  but  she  feels  little  for  them.  the  sailor  to  her  siren!  gimme  drama  !!!

HER  PATRONS  ;  same  idea  as  the  benefactor  but  a  little  less  intense.  once  hired  elena  likes  to  manipulate  her  patrons  into  keeping  her  around  and  introducing  her  to  their  friends.  she  may  flirt  with  them  and  make  herself  seem  closer  to  them  than  she  truly  is.  girl  wants  money  and  fame  tbh. 

TOO  CLEVER  FOR  HER  ;  this  is  the  person  who  doesn’t  fall  for  her  tricks.  probably  one  of  the  first  friends  elena  made  when  she  moved  to  aura.  they  know  elena  better  than  she  knows  herself  and  call  her  out  when  she’s  being  dramatic  or  irritating.  one  of  the  few  people  who  know  elena  as  who  she  truly  is  rather  than  the  persona  she  puts  on. 

FRIENDS  IN  LOW  PLACES  ;  people  from  when  elena  was  just  starting  out  ,  maybe  involved  in  the  business  of  a  pub  or  inn  or  just  regulars  at  one  that  elena  frequented  as  a  performer.  another  one  of  the  few  people  from  before  her  rise  to  popularity  that  elena  still  acquaints  herself  with.  maybe  drinking  buddies  or  they  could  accompany  her  on  her  misadventures. 

COURTING  ;  elena  is  losing  herself  the  more  wealth  and  popularity  she  collects.  she’d  like  to  surround  herself  with  the  noble  and  wealthy  and  this  may  include  someone  she’s  trying  to  court  so  they  can  introduce  her  to  people  with  heavier  pockets.  we  love  manipulation  :)  bonus  points  if  elena  actually  catches  feels  and  the  other  person  breaks  her  heart!  (  i’m  a  terrible  ,  terrible  person  )  

UNLIKELY  ATTRACTION  ;  a  hook  up  that  elena  would  rather  not  talk  about.  this  person  doesn’t  have  money  or  status  but  elena  comes  back  every  time.  she’s  working  up  the  strength  to  break  it  off.  

SUSPICIOUS  OF  ;  perhaps  someone  from  acacia  who  knew  elena  before  she  became  the  siren.  they  don’t  trust  her  at  all.  even  better  if  they  learn  about  the  debt  her  family  has  accumulated.  elena  is  desperate  to  pay  it  off  but  she  doesn’t  nearly  have  enough  money  and  the  letters  she  sends  back  home  go  unanswered.
