I am playing on survival right now. I named my male sole survivor Attitcus this time around. I haven't gotten very far but we found a sniper rifle and run from things a lot.
ooooh HAVE FUN! Survival is such a weird kind of fun, and easier AND harder at the same time! (I accumulated hundreds of unused stimpacks??? which was wild and the last thing I expected). Hope you have so much fun and minimal frustrations!
My players went to a location I meant for the to go at a higher level and now I'm nervous. Do I scale things down? Tell them to get out of dodge? Just not trigger those plot points at all?
I don’t really know enough, but I’d say just don’t trigger the plot points.
21. "Why are you playing the ukulele?"

“I haven’t drawn my most fearful man in a while (he’s just Scared okay)...”
:
I haven't seen him before! Who is he?
He’s an OC from another originalverse, someone I’ve had for... six years? Seven? As happens to my OCs, he’s been many places, and acted as my first Shepard in the Mass Effect games and stuff. xD He’s really a human in his own verse, a disowned heir to the throne in the Bird’s Nest, a trained as a truth-teller (literally cannot lie, but can speak the truth strategically; can sense when people are being dishonest, but not what they’re lying about specifically), a mage afraid of his own power in a world where magic has been banned (but he’s being protected by his aunt who is the Queen of Skyreach). He’s fond of religion (in like, general, he finds is super fascinating even if he doesn’t think of himself as a religious man, just a fan of the routine and aesthetic, but it’s also Complicated) and books, and tea, and warm baths and sleeping in, and afraid of blood, heights, and generally just. dealing with negative emotion, but he’s trying to be better? Falls in love with a dying man and hates it, and loves him. It’s a Time.
Tol & slinky, 37 but you won’t guess it, so many freckles, got a tattoo once and it was Bad Idea, allergic to seafood and lives in a city where that’s a staple, left-handed, will attempt to look cooler than he really is, likes not wearing pants if he can avoid it.
I don't really remember your characters well but "It has never really worked for us and it never will."
hello five years later. i told u guys i was workin on my askbox prompts!!!
“Ma’am, you should really just give it up.”
“Don’t call me ma’am,” Kawai said, not looking away from the mess on the table. It was only a sign of her distraction that she didn’t eviscerate one of the few interns formerly employed by Dr. Renario that hadn’t been carted off to prison for aiding and abetting.
“Ma’am,” the poor, nervous college student tried again, “really. It’s never worked for us, and it never will.”
Kawai did pause at that, and shot the college student a dry look over her shoulder.
“I’m not you,” she said in clipped tones, “and I said not to call me ma’am. Get out.”
“But -”
Kawai reached across the table for a heavy wrench as long as her hand. The intern squeaked and scuttled away, ducking under Eli’s arm as he pushed open the door to what used to be Dr. Renario’s lab. They’d closed this part of the complex off to the residents of Sonya’s brand-new safehaven, mostly because they had no idea what to do with it, and, quite frankly, it was too spooky to let anyone in it.
But when Kawai stopped by to visit and help install some new security systems, she’d taken over this part of the complex. “I put the antenna thing up on the roof.”
“Did you do it right this time?” Kawai asked, turning back to tinker with the massive, sprawling frankenstein of mechanical bits and pieces on the table.
“How the heck should I know?” Eli replied. He kicked a hose as big around as his thigh out of the way, before stepping over it and going over to the table. “It didn’t zap me this time.“
“Probably right, then.” Kawai replaced a leaf of metal over the machine, covering up the wiring, and then stepped back. “You ready to start it up?”
“Wait,” Eli said, “shouldn’t we have everyone leave, first, just in case -”
Kawai didn’t wait. She pulled down a heavy lever instead.
The power immediately cut out.
The room plunged into darkness, and Kawai said, “Are you sure you put the antenna on right.“
“Maybe not,”
A second later, Eli felt a deep hum in his chest and through his feet; it was coming from Kawai’s machine, he realized, and as soon as he’d figured that out, the lights flickered back on. Kawai was on the other side of the table, now, and Eli blinked away the spots in his eyes for a moment.
“Is it working?” he asked. and she shrugged.
“Let’s go check.”
From what they could tell, it was. A transparent, deep purple dome now encased the complex in a forcefield that Kawai guessed was about a hands-width wide. Nothing happened if she touched it (Eli wouldn’t try it himself until she did, first), and Kawai sighed as she stepped back on the grassy lawn of the shelter.
“I didn’t want it to be purple,” she said, scowling, and Eli snorted.
“What was it supposed to be?”
“Invisible.” Kawai hummed. “Whatever. I’ll work on it. Let’s go shut it off.”
It wouldn’t shut off.
Kawai frowned and moved the lever back up, and then slammed it down again. The humming did not stop, and neither did the little lights blinking around the circumference of the flower-bud-shaped machine. Eli rubbed the back of his neck.
“Kit.”
“Hold on.” Kawai pulled the lever again.
“Kit.”
“Give me a second,” she snapped, and reached down to jerk one of three thick, heavy power cords out of the wall. Nothing happened. She pulled the second, and then the third, and groaned as the hum kept humming.
“Kit.” Eli’s voice was much whinier now. “Siope has to go to the doctor today.”
“Relax, Eli!” Kawai snapped over her shoulder. “I’ll fix it, hold on -”
Sparks ran up and down her arms, and Eli hastily moved to the far side of the room. He’d had more than enough of electric shock; his hands tremored in memory.
A second later, Kawai joined him, flung away from the machine by a massive arc of electricity. Eli caught her with a grunt.
She snarled. “That’s it. I’m blowing it up.”
“Whoa,” Eli said, alarmed, “there’s gotta be another way to turn it off.”
“Probably,” Kawai said, scowling as she pushed her self out of his arms, “but now I’m pissed.”
She stormed towards the door. Eli followed, anxiously wondering what Sonya was going to say when she found out that Kawai had trapped them all inside the complex. They trooped outside, and Kawai stopped short when she realized one very important obstacle in the way of her blowing up Dr. Renario’s half-finished invention.
Her truck, with all its equipment, was outside the bubble.
Oh goodness me! Matilda is the cutest
