I can tell I've put too much thought into a PHM Catstronauts AU because I wrote this all out:
The most logical stand-in for Grace is WBS, but in order for it to be as close as possible to PHM, it'd have to be somewhere in the 2000s, when WBS worked at the science museum. I also think Major could be the back-up pilot for the mission, with Petrov as the main pilot, considering that Major would be old enough but not have too much experience, and Petrov would be the best. The engineer would have to be Über (if we assume they're old enough which I am), and some random Catsup cat like Ozzie or Patches, but I think an OC would be better than Ozzie or Patches because I only said them because they're like... my only options if we stick to only canon characters, because I'm assuming Blanket is around Pom Pom and Waffle's age. Scientists are a lot harder, though, because we don't actually get too many of them? Like we have Pom Pom, but in the 2000s, she's like 5-10, and we don't really have any other scientists except Gemelli, who is around Pom Pom's age, Elvis, who's age we don't know but he looks like... maybe old enough?? and Uma, who I'm saying is old enough for my sanity.
Anyway, as for Stratt, I might have an idea? I think the best stand-in for Stratt would be Bianca. I mean, she seems to be a good leader in RtM during that 1 scene, and she seems like the type to be able to do what Stratt does. She's also old enough, probably being around the same age as Petrov
So in conclusion I think the crew for the Catstronauts Hail Mary would be Petrov, Über, and Elvis as the main team, backup being Major, an OC, and Uma, and of course our boy WBS as a backup backup, with Bianca acting as Stratt.
