You're like the only other person I've seen who feels like there's no real difference between c*tradora and r*ylo, I've never vocalized that on tumblr because I'd probably be called homophobic but catra pushed her off a cliff and almost destroyed the universe like how does one get over that?
Exactly!!! We have zero representation so when it comes down to it some of the tiniest scraps or biggest piles of crap end up looking like piles of gold and we praise them to hell and back and refuse to see anything wrong with that.
C*tradora is a terrible, abusive ship and I honestly feel so bad for adora who's had to endure nothing but catra's violence and spite only for the show to make her do a 180 because "they understand eachother the most uwu" "catra is just a misunderstood woobie don't be mean to her she was abused"
There are tons of problems with s5 and the show in general but the worst was catras character development and c*tradora
Also this is just a side note but the ship wasn't developed properly at all, even excluding all the abusive shit, they barely interacted throughout the show, and people like to point out the prom dance as a Gotcha but really aside from that one thing and the sometimes flirting what really was there? Honestly alot of the scenes had zero romance and fans just made it out to look like they had it just cuz they were too obsessed with the ship to see the scenes as anything else. Hell- even those official Every C*tradora Moment videos from DreamWorks aren't that long and some things just Aren't that romantic. It just violence between women being sexualized because we were taught to think it was sexy to see women fight and so Therefore It Must Be Romantic no really guys stop laughing
And don't even get me started on how obnoxious the C*tra and c*tradora stans are. Everything has to be about them and if you don't like them you hate women and you're homophobic. Ppl suck sometimes
Hey real controversial opinion but I absolutely HATE the character of Catra in She-Ra. Keeping in mind that I've only seen up to about half way through season 4, I just find her COMPLETELY unlikable and irredeemable. All she does is fuck people who care about her over to get what she wants. She relishes hurting the only friend she had for most of her childhood because she chose to do the objective right thing and save innocent lives. And after being given the option to make a positive change, she outright choses evil. After everything shes been through, she still values the system of abuse that hurt her over anyone who has ever genuinely cared about her or tried to help her. She even continues to perpetuate that cycle and system of abuse with Scorpia, another person who has shown a genuine love and care for her. I can't stand the idea that there are people who are willing to excuse that abusive behavior just because she was a victim of abuse. You dont get the right to abuse people because you were abused. If you're not trying to break the cycle then you need to be held accountable and responsible for your actions, which Catra NEVER is in the show. It's just frustrating to watch because I would be open to the idea of redemption if she had shown any sort of positive characterization within the show thus far, but at this point I can't conceive of a satisfying conclusion that doesnt end with her in magic prison for 10,000 years with no hope of escape.
Tl;dr hot take: Catra is a bad person who has made no attempt to try to heal or improve herself, even after understanding that it is possible to heal from the abuse received growing up through the support and love of others. Instead she chooses to perpetuate that system and willingly hurt everyone around her and shes never shown in show to be punished for it. The horde and Catra continue to succeed and our heroes are on the ropes night after night. Like,,, who the fuck is the writing staff rooting for here? Wtf??
