[11:53AM]; “c’mere kitty,” you murmur, patting your thigh. felix smiles before sitting down on his knees in front of you, sheepishly looking towards the ground. the sunlight bursts in through the large windows of the sunroom. after he sits, felix feels the sun’s warmth coat the back of his ears which causes his tail to swish happily. “wanna take a nap?” you look up at felix, attempting to make eye-contact. you’ve known felix to be avoidant of the action, something you noticed when you first adopted him. though, you always try anyways. felix understands — and greatly appreciates — the fact that you never pressure him to, evidently he’s still a bit shy. after a few seconds of him not responding, you pull your gaze away from him, not wanting to stare. motioning to the poetry books beside you, you smile, “i’ll read to you if you want.”. at this, felix’s ears perk up and he smiles, turning his head to look at the few books stacked beside you on the ground. he nods, “okay!” and after a few minutes of getting comfortable, he lays in your lap with heavy eyelids. his tail drapes over the front of his hips as his fingers pick at the carpet underneath him. nestling your hand in his soft hair, you clear your throat and pick up one of the books. glancing down at felix, you smile once again. the sunlight glitters over his face and his cheeks are a light shade of pink from the warmth. looking back to your page, you begin. “the sun’s rays are of the most beautiful in the summertime,” you read.
