I was under the impression that “valores” meant "values". (re: "super pope francis"
The word “valores” on its own means values, and can also mean stocks or securities. But in the image, it was written on a bag, the word for which in Spanish is “bolsa”. And “bolsa de valores” definitely means stock market.
Anonymous asks: Growing up, I was raised in a very conservative Catholic household. My first year of college was difficult and I started having doubts about my religion. I had never been exposed to non-Catholics or non religious people because I was homeschooled all my life. I go to an extremely liberal college where people loathe the concept of religion and debate you like it’s their job. Anyway, I guess I lost myself there for awhile. I’m scared this might happen again…What should I do to remain faithful?
Here is some advice from the Tumblr Catholics! :)
Olivier says: “Daily mass and getting involved in any ministry you can.”
Christy says: “While religion is extremely important, especially for us Catholics, the only thing that’ll keep you faithful is just by drawing closer to Jesus, and asking what he wants. Jesus sees your struggle and loves them regardless of whether or not you can defend their faith.”
Ed says: “A short answer would be that getting involved in a ministry is a great way to keep close. As is going to Mass - get involved with the choir or be a lector or something. A great thing about college is that there are usually more people than your HS (even if homeschooled). This means that there are bound to be at least a few people with the same struggle. It only takes a few to have a club or prayer group. Nothing says you have to do what ‘everyone’ does. Go out of your way to find something. Another little tip - it might be good to go to an RA, but it makes sense that you might not want to go to your actual RA b/c he/she might be part of the problem. Go to a random one or even just call student activities or wherever the local church happens to be. Some in college have really felt much better finding a place off campus and ‘getting some air’ every now and then.”
Maxime says: “Does your campus have a Catholic group? I went to SDSU which is always listed as one of the top party schools in the country, but we had an active campus ministry.”
Trini says: “Go to Mass whenever you can; adoration helps, too. And know the faith well enough to defend it when challenged. DO NOT be afraid to say, ‘Not sure; I’ll get back to you.’”
Chris says: “A man cannot be a church unto himself. He can only be a part of it by being in it at all times. You must follow the advice that has already been given here: inundate yourself with religion and Catholic people; be filled with prayers in your heart all the time and make your beliefs your everyday convictions, company and actions.”
Katie says: “I think it’s been said, but make sure you have good, faithful friends. Saints are never saints alone—imagine St. Augustine without St. Monica and St. Ambrose! Also, learn learn learn as much as you can about the faith. Not only should we be doing that anyway, but it’ll expel doubts strengthen your defenses against attacks.”
Matt says: “Realizing that truth is not determined by majority opinion or the winner of an argument.”
Anon, I hope this helps, and know you’re in the prayers of the Tumblr Catholics! God bless you!
catholicknight replied to your post: Am I the only one who takes notes to confession? ...
You should see this app list from Laudate. It makes you think of 1,000 sins you never knew you committed.
Yes Laudate is great!
Pretty sure I did not see myself on the list. Feel free to add me.
You are on the [list](http://catholic-inspiration.tumblr.com/post/5621795785/christian-tumblrs).God Bless!
