Going back to it, one of the things that's actually most charming about the DSMP to me is its lack of apology. If your Minecraft SMP doesn't require a level of suspension of disbelief where someone gets banished from their own country then asks if they could be allowed, possibly, to come back in for just a day because Fortnite streamer Ninja is touring the server next week, then I don't want it.

I saw a post about middle school vent OC's, and I had to go dig up the first KotLC OC I ever made, when I was around 12 or 13. and y'all it's even more middle school than I remembered. I'm sobbing
let's start with a few of the basics.
Name: Jeta Hanner
Age: 16 (Elvin Years) 14 (Human years) [note: this is not possible]
Abilities: Telepath and Vanisher
...okay. a little OP, a little odd, a little unreasonable, but nothing too crazy. but now for the real highlights (my commentary in brackets):
Appearance: Long chestnut-colored curly hair [chestnut was my favorite horse color]. Dark blue eyes [I loved Divergent]. Small. Tan. She loves trying new things with her hair and is often seen with pretty/weird bun/braid type combos [there's the true Y/N babyyy].
Personality: Jeta has never truly enjoyed being a Telepath and Vanisher because the combined abilities make people suspicious and often blame things on her. She doesn't like jokes and teasing about her small size [my adult height is five feet]. She is extremely smart and an incredible friend- most of the time. Well, if she had any friends [this is my favorite line in the entire writeup]. Her temper sometimes takes over and she's afraid she'll manifest as an Inflictor and people will be afraid of her as well as wary. She lives in constant fear of being banished and battles guilt, but no one knows, not even her family [this should be framed in a museum].
History: She got into Foxfire with her incredible mental skills and feels she should be proud of that but isn't. Her family goes back a long way into the nobility and so if she was to be banished she would leave black mark on the family record [dun dun daaa].
okay and a couple of my last favorite pieces from the extra details:
Dislikes: The Universe because it takes so much time to reach her self-inflicted perfection requirement [adult catherine feels called out]. People who spend too much/too little time on their appearance [she's not like the other girls]. Dancing.
Relationship status: Crushing on a Vacker [*a* Vacker. just so you know she has a very traditional gold digger crush. literally no other details given. for the record, I think this was mostly because in this roleplay group, we weren't supposed to give our characters connections to canon ones, or I would have said Fitz.]

I was at the middle school for my library internship today, and I met the librarian's niece, who upon learning I read Wings of Fire and that I was familiar with fandom terminology (I sussed her out and dropped a "shipping" into the conversation), told me very firmly, "We are friends." So that's very exciting for me. Also, we're in southern ass Texas, and I was just talking to the librarian about implementing "obscenity" laws from the government, and this kid (who knows basically nothing about me) told me so casually, "Yeah, people ship Moon and Qibli or Moon and Winter, but I think all three of them could be together."
