The way I've started seeing it that helps a lot for me is comparing it to dreaming. So when you are dreaming, everything in the dream is aware to you at every moment. Your consciousness is omnipresent in the dream. Yet "you" don't exist in the dream, "you" exist completely outside of the dream. The dream only exists because and while you are dreaming it.

Oh, just a little something to take the edge off.

There in the tomb with Lazarus I lay, my soul dead in the ways of

the world. Buried; I can do nothing anymore of my own accord. How greatly I need You, Lord!

“Lazarus, come out!" Your tender voice cries amidst Your tears. "Come out from that life and walk to me; share in my loving embrace!"

Through Your grace, I awaken!

Eyes opened, my goal is in sight. You, O Lord, are my goal; You, O Lord, are my one desire.

"Lazarus, come out!" With Lazarus, I begin the sojourn towards the door; there I see Christ in His beauty.

And as I walk out the tomb His

sweet voice spoke. "Unbind him and let him go!" And at the command of His lips, my bindings were made loose;

my sorrows consoled

I walk towards Him, who my soul loves, welcoming me with a

Fatherly embrace.

"You were dead and are now alive; lost and now found!"

Looking back at the life left behind, those bindings of pride become a bittersweet reminder of how my Love, my true Love has redeemed me!
