I don’t have a definite age on the cats yet. They’re still drinking milk and their eyes are closed, but they are up and moving about. I assume they are about two weeks old. Their mother was scared away by construction and hadn’t been back for them in a few days, so the kittens were moved into a home where they would be safe from harm.

So far, this didn’t sound too bad. I was excited about getting to care for kittens. However, as with any young animal, they’re delicate, and I need to take them to the vet to get them taken care of. I’m scared that one of them may have already aspirated some of the milk my mom was feeding it, which can lead to a bacterial infection of the lungs, which will most likely kill the cat.

I need to being them to the vet as soon as possible, but, as I have not had a job in three months now, I have no money, and apparently my mom doesn’t either. (Why did she decide that bringing in three infant kittens was a good idea when we’re poor as hell? I have no goddamn clue.) 

I have no idea how much it will cost to get them checked out. I’m also going to look into getting them spayed/neutered, which will also cost money.

I’m going to call a bunch of shelters in the morning, but all of the ones I’ve called so far have said they will ultimately have to put them down, as no one has time to take care of kittens. As long as I can bring them to the vet, I believe that I can take care of them and they’ll be ready for adoption as soon as they are eating on their own. But again, I don’t have any money at my disposal.

Any donations are appreciated. Best case scenario is I can find someone else to take them, or I get them to the vet and I can care for them. Worst case, they die in my care, or we take them to a shelter to get put down. (And I really don’t want that to happen.)

Also, if you are in the Orlando area (of Florida) and know of a rescue that can care for these kittens, PLEASE message me and I’ll give them a call asap. So far my luck has been pretty poor, as no one will accept cats below a certain age.

As promised here are some pictures of the kittens! Terrible quality because my phone is a piece of garbage, and the lighting in my bathroom is horrible. (There’s no windows in the bathroom so I can’t even let in natural light to get a better picture.)

The plain gray one is VERY loud. I’ve been calling that one Klaxon. Then there’s the other two that look pretty similar. All three of them are grey, but these two have very light stripes developing. One of them is slightly lighter, I’ve been calling that one Possum because it has dark ears. The third one remains unnamed for now. 

I’m pretty convinced that the cats aren’t even two weeks old, because they still don’t have their eyes open. They’re walking around just fine though. My mom and I think they’re about 10 days old? 

We’re gonna try to get them to the vet on Monday, and we’re going to look for any signs of respiratory problems in the meantime. Early this morning when we went to feed them, one of them looked like they were wheezing or panting, which concerned us. However, they don’t seem to be doing that anymore? I’ll definitely keep a close eye on it though. Hoping for the best.

My mom is normally on top of funds so I’m very surprised to hear her straight up say “I don’t have the money to bring them to the vet.” 

I know my mom wanted to do the right thing, her heart is in the right place, but... better planning would have been great.
