A dog, the color of the mud caked in its nails, diligently digs at a small grassless patch of dirt.

The dog is stout and muscular, though barely big enough to reach the top of a table on its back two legs.

As the rain begins to pour, a cardboard box materializes in the ever-growing pit the dog has dug.

Sniffing the box, the dog circles it, then paws at it until it opens.

Inside is a grey and white cat, sunken in with decay 

and its fur falling out in death.

After a quick sniff, the dog drags the cat out into the mud.

As if it were table scraps, the dog licks it then takes a few bites 

to adjust the corpse in its jaws.

It carries the poor cadaver to where it takes table scraps, 

in front of a couch, 

and begins to devour the corpse.

The owner walks down the stairs.

Gore stains the dog’s face, as well as the grey-blue carpet.

A scream pierces the air.
