SINGLE FILE:
OH SEES
“ANIMATED VIOLENCE”
CASTLE FACE
“Animated Violence” is the second single (and 591st of Dwyer’s career) from the upcoming Oh Sees LP ‘Orc.’
You know damn well this thing is a rocker of the highest order because anytime you see the name John Dwyer or the Oh Sees or THEE Oh Sees you pretty much know what you’re getting and the brilliance of that cannot be understated.
“Animated Violence” checks off all that you’d want from an Oh Sees’ track, it’s: manic, shreds, tightly wound, raw, and it wiles the fuck out. Those Sabbath-like riffs, the organ drones, animal-ish drums set the stage for Dwyer’s infrequent vocals stabs.
This thing’s a beast, just press play already.......
The forthcoming Oh Sees’ LP ‘Orc’ drops 8/25 via Castle Face Records
Osees - Weirdo Hairdo 12” (2020) The latest from (Thee) O(h)sees is a 3-track 12” consisting of 20-minute title track, a 13-minute cover of a 3-minute song from the Alice-Cooper fronted 60s group The Spiders, and an 8-minute closer “Tear Ducks” which is refreshingly enjoyable after two overlong and honestly kinda wanky tracks. Oh Sees are one of my favorite bands of the last decade but I much prefer when they’re succinct, as they were on their more official studio album of the year, Protean Threat, and even the first half of the next release, Metamorphosed. • #osees #theeohsees #ohsees #weirdohairdo #castleface #castlefacerecords #nowplaying #nowspinning #nowlistening #vinyl #vinyligclub #instavinyl #vinylporn #vinylgram #vinylcollection #LP #recordcollection #musiccollection #vinylcommunity #ontheturntable #onmyturntable #albumcover #album #albumart #psychedelicrock #2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ2X6-isP5q/?igshid=ug0ka04uu0bm
Population II — À La Ô Terre (Castleface)

À la Ô Terre by POPULATION II
Population II, from Quebec, spews a fiery, lucid psychedelia, floating eerie blues-haunted vocals over long drones of organ, then exploding into squalling guitar pyrotechnics. Their sound hews close to Amon Düül II or, more recently, Om, building tension into quiet ritual pulses and letting it out in screaming overload.

Osees — Protean Threat (Castleface)
Protean Threat by Oh Sees
John Dwyer’s 23rd album as Osees (variously spelled) is a monster, the best in ages, raising the wild animal spirits of garage rock abandon and locking them down in precisely drawn, tightly played arrangements. The heat of the moment meets the chill of open-ended hypnogogic drone here as short blasts of unhinged guitar play are fitted into rhythmic boxes (see the squeals of wah wah bursting out of “Toadstool”’s rigorous groove) and presented for your approval. There are two excellent drummers pummeling simultaneous kits, the yelp of tortured guitars, the squiggly wonder of space-age keyboards. Cuts range from out-and-out surf pop (“If I Had My Way”) to cartoon-violent riff fests (“Terminal Jape,” “Scramble Suit II”) to dub-echo’d, jazz-slouching, Can-evoking introspections (“Said the Shovel” “Gong of Catastrophe”).
