Castifer Runs From Destiel
The last thing Lucifer expected when he possesed Castielâs body, was that heâd end up discovering a secret relationship with Dean.
When Castifer returned to the bunker, Dean asked him to follow him so that they could catch up on some information. Sam, of course, didnât notice; he was still too traumatized from being back in the cageâpoor puppy Sam, who must be protected at all costs. Castifer followed Dean into his room and was caught off guard by a kiss. âWhoa! What the-â Castifer takes a step back from Dean, holding his hands up.
Dean looks at his âboyfriendâ, confused because Castiel hasnât reacted like that since they first started dating, not used to acts of affection. After a while, he was the one to initiate most of the kisses, but now he was backing up?
âCas? Baby, you okay?â Dean asked, stepping towards him. Castifer stepped back and fumbled reaching for the door handle, âY-yep thatâsâIâmâwell you know, just tired from the cage, and I really need to go to my room, if I have oneâŚâ He mumbled the last part.
âWeâll catch up later!â He called as he stumbled out of the room and raced down the hall. âWhat the f-â

Castifer eventually found the room that belonged to Cas and sank onto the bed. He had no idea what was going on between Castiel and Dean, and was now not so sure heâd have taken the deal if he did know. Why couldnât Cas have found any other man or woman? Why did it have to be the person that Lucifer wanted to kill?
But if he were being honest, he understood why he went with the older brother. Especially seeing their connection, even from afar. But now that connection was to him, and he had to try his best to avoid Dean, which was proving to be tricky.
The next morning, Castifer stumbled into the kitchen and almost turned around to see who was in it, but Dean caught him first. âOkay, what is it? I know somethingâs up.â Castifer had a decision to make: let the secret get out and risk ruining his whole plan, or play along. He reluctantly chose the latter. He sighed and put on his best Castiel impression, âNothing, Dean. Like I said, visiting the cage was a lot. Iâm fine.â
Dean looked at him for a second, then sighed and stepped back. âAlright. Fine, but if there's anything you know you can talk to me about. Câmon, we gotta run to the store, weâre out of, well, everything.â Castifer nodded, âIs um-Sam coming?â He asked. Dean shook his head, âNah, heâs out right now checking in on something.â Dean said, taking âCastielâsâ hand.
Castifer looked around as if there were something he could hold onto. âMaybe we should wait for him to come back. Strength in numbers.â He rushed out. Dean looked at him and laughed, âCas, itâs just the store, okay. Nothingâs gonna happen while weâre out, and Sam can take care of himself. Besides, this gives us some time just to ourselves,â he said, ending it with a smile. Castifer nodded, forcing a smile of his own, âYayâŚâ
It only got worse as the days passed. If Castifer didnât need the link to Amara, he would have been gone by now, hidden deep in the corners of hell looking for tablets instead of trying to keep Deanâs lips away from him.
Fast-forwarding to now, Castiel had just landed back in the bunker, soaking wet. âThereâs angel wardings on the ship.â He huffs. Sam watches him stalk across the room, throwing the trench coat off and grabbing a towel.
They spent the next few hours looking for a way to reach Dean, or to get Dean back to them. Lucifer sat at a table, leafing through a book while bored. Sam sat up and pulled the one he was reading closer with a hopeful expression.
âWait a second, I think I have something. The spell of gathering is an incantation used to focus the power of celestial beings, angels, against all forms of evasion.â He reads aloud, âThe spell is designed to clear all mystical or occult blockages. I mean, this is highly theoretical magic; itâs never been used before, but it sounds like it could work.â
Castifer nods along, âAnd the ingredients?â He asks. Sam looked down and began reading the list, then sat back in his chair, disappointed. âAll but one. Thatâs why itâs never been used before. It requires the power of an archangel.â He huffs out and slams the book shut, while Castifer thinks deeply.
âWell, Sam, we may as well try.â He says. âWe donât have time for long shots, Cas. Even at full power, youâre not strong enough.â He says, finally, getting up and walking away, leaving Castifer alone at the table with the spell book. He leans over and opens it up, turning to the spell.
After a while, Sam walked back into the main room and saw âCasâ preparing the spell anyway. After a lengthy discussion, he offers Castiel the chance to touch his soul and gain power from it. âItâs worth the risk. Cas, Dean needs our help. I trust you.â Castifer smiles, then starts laughing, Sam giving him a confused look. âWhat?â
âOh, itâs just-I donât need you anymore. I mean, Deanâs the one with the link to Amara, why have I been trying to spare you? Maybe itâs cause youâre like the girl who kept turning me down at the prom.â Sam goes pale, suspecting who it is, backs up, searching for a weapon, as Castifer presses on with casual humor. âYouâve been stepping on my nuts all day, but youâve given me a great idea.â Sam grabs an angel blade, but âCasâ ratchets it away, pinning Sam to a pillar. âIâll touch your soul. Then Iâll use the spell, blast through the warding, retrieve Dean and the Hand of God, and when Dean gets back to find the place decorated with your guts, Iâll just tell him, Dean-â
He begins to mimic Cas, âDeanâŚhe knew the risks, he wouldnât take no for an answer.â He is now right up at Sam, cornering him. âLuciferâŚâ Sam says, and Castifer smiles, âIn the flesh.â
Castifer touches Samâs soul, causing him to scream as he smiles. He reaches deep, moments from killing him, when suddenly he stops. Sam drops to the ground, and Castifer looks at his hand, frustrated. âHello, Castiel." âYou will not hurt Sam. And you will not hurt Dean!â He hears, ringing throughout his head.
After a struggle between the two beings, Dean stumbles into the room, a bright, disoriented light following him. He turns and sees Sam injured on the floor, who is now pointing to âCastielâ, by Deanâs side. âThatâs not Cas!â Dean turns to Castifer, who has a sly grin and shrugs, âCatâs out.â
