Sandblasting the Franklin's logo and slogan onto my final pieces.
Lighting and installation problems!
This is the moment all my problems began. When I decided I wanted to light the bags to bring the forms into a larger than life, ghostly and ephemeral figures on the wall. So I didn't know this at the time but the torch in a typical is a very very unique and specific type of light that is emitted from one single LED. The resulting light is very flat and harsh and casts crystal clear shadows. This is why experimentation and preparation is KEY!!!!!!! But my meetings with the lighting tech kept getting postponed and I FOOLISHLY thought it would be a very simple task. When the time for install came I found out just how drastically underprepared I was as we tried every single light in the SCA arsenal- which were all beautiful, soft, and DIFFUSED. I ended up nearly having a breakdown in the bunnings lighting aisle as nothing was working. Eventually, I found some single light torches at bunnings- that had only a 5 hour battery life. But I had to make do. The biggest compromise I had to make was posting a sign in my installation area encouraging the audience to use their phone lights. Which was a little bit of audience interaction, I suppose, but truthfully I was so embarrassed that my installation looked incredibly unprofessional and underprepared. All in all, I wish I could say I was proud of the installation but I know that I could have done better. Learning experience!
Took some proper photos of my bags for the grad show website. This is the only one I liked
colour tests and some not so refined bag forms
