Honestly I don’t understand/trust anyone who (rightly) condemns what Gunn did but won’t accept that Disney knew all about the tweets (this isn’t the first time they’ve been brought to light) but Disney ignored that hired him anyways, & they only fired him because of Conservative outrage… Like if Gunn wasn’t anti Trump the tweets would have stayed in the past & everyone would still be praising him and That’s The Tea
this is 10000% correct. which makes the situation even worse cause the tweets were awful but the fact that this came to light because of the alt right and the alt right got exactly what they wanted is so fucking ugly and people giving credit to Disney is ugly as shit

This really sums up my thoughts on the issue- what Gunn said was despicable, but it sets a very dangerous precident of “speaking out against the president will get you fired” that worries me
precisely. people need to be alarmed that disney will fire someone relatively important for being politically inconvenient (because...there’s no way no one at marvel/disney hadn’t seen those tweets before...no way they weren’t aware of the sort of person he was when he was starting out as a filmmaker...it was only when it became inconvenient that it was deemed a problem). people are being willfully ignorant of the political implications of this because they didnt like gunn/guardians and want to feel validated.
