“I just...I can’t believe Tristan didn’t tell me! Well, okay...he did tell me...but did he have to wait so long!? I mean...we’re stuck here in the middle of God-Knows-Where, Russia and it's not like I can just go yachting out to some quiet island to come to terms with this or anything and I—” Eden stopped in her tracks, staring open-lipped at her best friend as she realized she hadn’t stopped speaking in likely over a minute. She closed her mouth, dropped her hands into her lap from where they’d been gesturing about through the air, and let out a huff.
The youngest princess of Monaco slumped a little where she sat, cross-legged on her bed beside Cassandra, looking a bit like a mostly-deflated balloon version of herself. Was she being dramatic? Yes. Was she being a child about it? Yes. But Eden was displeased. And she felt justified in that displeasure. Thankfully—or rather, unfortunately, depending on Cassandra’s perspective—the Greek princess' situation was much the same as hers. They were both betrothed, their freedom of spousal choice swept out from under their feet as if it was never there to begin with. And Eden supposed that was the real kicker. That choice wasn’t ever there. Only an illusion of it, a hint at the possibility that maybe they’d be able to exert some will—however minute—on that aspect of their lives. No such luck.
It might have come as a surprise to some, but it wasn't even the future husband in question that Eden was upset about. She hadn't properly met him yet, and it would be unfair to pass judgement on him before then. Rather, it was the scenario that had her so bent out of shape. Either way, she felt bad for running her mouth about it.
“Sorry Cassie, I...this just feels like alot at once, you know? You must know...you’re in the same boat.” she said, shooting the Greek princess an apologetic smile. “Have you met yours yet? Tell me he’s at least a snack...I need some hope here...”
