Okay the worst pair I can currently think of is ID and Dhraji send help
Did I say this had to be a nice relationship? NO. SORRY, DHRAJI, WE’RE GOING DOWN TRAUMA-CENTRAL ROAD.
For the sake of my soul, and also yours, and also Reba’s, god bless, we’re going to say this is ash or pale. Because ID would eat Dhraji alive in pitch, and it’d just be Laledy/ID Take Two, Except Dhraji Is Actually Going To Fucking Cry Edition in flush.
So! They could very easily meet through the fact ID runs a dance studio, and Dhraji’s a friendly, social creature - one of his friends is a student at ID’s studio, and he decides to come to watch his friend perform. ID notices him instead, because he’s adorable, and friendly, and fluffy like a particularly dumb puppy, and that.. is exactly the sort of person that ID likes to poke with a stick, unfortunately.
So he pays attention! And Dhraji is probably endeared by ID’s casual fake-affection, rather than creeped out, and ID, in turn, starts to get bored very quickly, because this is too easy. More importantly: it’s not really fun when this kid is genuinely starting to worry him. He doesn’t fight people. He cries about killing them. And, even more importantly: Dhraji’s fucking low-key terrifying to ID, courtesy of his mind-control ability, and ID only has two responses to being scared.
Kill it, or control it.
And you can’t kill imperial property.
So cue ID starting to actively, cheerfully meddle in Dhraji’s life and relationships! Is it pale? Is it ash? Who the fuck knows, it’s whatever he thinks will let him keep a firm hand on Dhraji’s collar most efficiently, and it’s probably a little of both. ID wants to make him a better, less shitty troll, by ID’s standards, and he wants to make sure he’ll never even consider using his hypnosis on ID, and he’s fully willing to do whatever it takes to guarantee both of those - even if it’s through working to set up Dhraji’s entire life for him, and keep him so dependent on ID that he’d never consider working against him.
