i feel like we haven't seen Cassie in a while so can you write one in which she tries to save a cat stick on a tree, but ends up being stuck on the tree as well?
This was, Casey had to admit, a mistake.
The plan was to climb up the tree, grab the cat at the top of it, and then climb back down. It seemed simple, and it also seemed like something she ought to do, being a hero-in-training. Rescuing cats out of trees seemed like Hero 101.
But then she reached from one branch to the next, and the branch above her was just in reach, and she grabbed it and tried to brace herself on the branch below before she pulled herself up-
And the branch below her snapped.
It was only her quick reflexes, the same ones Kara and Alex have been helping her hone, that kept her from falling out of the tree along with the branch. She was able to tighten her grip on the branch above her, and using every scrap of upper-body strength she had, she was able to pull herself up onto it. That meant she wasnât going to fall out of the tree, and ironically also brought her right up to the cat sheâd intended to rescue.
Unfortunately, there were now no other branches beneath her that were close enough for her to climb down to, meaning that she was stuck.
Yeah. Definitely a mistake.
Miserably, Casey pulled her phone out of her pocket. She looked through her contacts, briefly debating who to call, before finally deciding on Kara. It would be embarrassing for anyone to see her like this, but she trusted Kara not to tease her about it, and she also trusted her not to tell anyone else. It was the best option Casey had.
can u help? she texted. stuck in a tree. can send address if you need it.
A moment later, Kara flew down in front of her, apparently not needing the address at all. âHow did you end up stuck in a tree?â
âI was trying to rescue a cat,â Casey replied, looking down and trying valiantly not to blush. âThen the branch broke.â
For a moment, Casey thought she saw a flicker of a smile on Karaâs face, but it was gone when she looked again. âAlright, you grab the cat and Iâll grab you, howâs that?â
Casey reached out for the cat, who only hesitated a moment before jumping into her arms. âOkay.â
âHey,â Kara added, âthis may not have worked out the way you wanted it to, but you tried to help, and Iâm proud of you for that.â
Casey tried not to blush again, but for different reasons this time. âCan you just get me out of this tree?â
This time, Kara definitely did smile. âOkay. Hold on tight.â

Lena helping Cassie through a little stomach bug while Kara and Alex are off world and she cant reach them (she was watching her anyways.) Cassie's a bit embarrassed, but Lena is amazingly caring, and helpful.
When Kara told Casey that she would be staying with Lena while Kara and Alex were dealing with a situation on Argo, Casey had been offended. She didnât need a babysitter, after all. She was old enough to take care of herself. But Kara had told her that she would feel more comfortable leaving her with Lena, and in the end, sheâd won the argument.
Right now, as Casey groans and curls around her cramping stomach, sheâs begrudgingly glad of it. This would be worse if she didnât have someone else to help her out.
âOkay,â Lena says, pushing the door open with her hip, âIâve got some ginger ale for you, and some crackers. I bought a few different brands of each, in case you donât like one. Iâve also got bread, bananas, and rice. Is there anything else you want?â
âNo, itâs fine,â Casey says, a little embarrassed. Sheâs not even sure how much sheâd want Kara hovering over her when sheâs sick like this; sheâs definitely not comfortable with Lena hovering.
Luckily, Lena seems to be able to tell. âIâll leave this here if you want it, and you can call me if you need anything else, okay? Iâll be right outside if you need me.â
Casey nods. âThanks,â she says tentatively, looking at the crackers and wondering if sheâll be able to keep them down.
âIf you need anything, donât hesitate to ask,â Lena adds. âNo matter what.â
âI will,â Casey promises, halfheartedly wishing Lena would leave and feeling a little bad about it.
âIâll be right outside,â Lena repeats, then she slips out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Casey eyes the crackers, then picks one up and nibbles at it. Itâs bland enough not to upset her stomach, but having something to eat does make her feel a little better. She doesnât think sheâs quite ready for the ginger ale yet, but itâs there if she wants it.
Maybe sheâs not quite ready to have Lena - or anyone but maybe Kara, really - with her while sheâs sick, but itâs nice to know that, if she needs anything, someone is there.
Heya Winter! :'D Casey and Parker trying to set-up Kara and Kate together! I would think maybe they need a few tries to get it right so specifically: their first attempt, in which things do not go according to plan.
âAre you sure this is going to work?â
âItâll be fine,â Parker says dismissively. âTrust me, Iâve got this handled.â
âI just feel like theyâre going to see through it,â Casey counters. âI mean, itâs not that subtle.â
âThink about our moms for a second, and then tell me with a straight face that subtlety will work.â
ââŚFair point.â
âThis will work,â Parker declares. âItâll be perfect.â
It is not perfect.
âAre you kidding me?â Parker demands as she and Casey hide behind an overturned table. âThe one restaurant that we pick for our moms to go on a date, and it gets attacked by aliens?â
âYeah, that happens a lot in National City,â Casey replies. âBut on the bright side, it did look like they were enjoying dinner together up until the aliens attacked.â
âOf course they were,â Parker groans. âHonestly, Iâm not sure if that makes me feel better or not, because that means maybe we could have actually gotten them together if it werenât for these stupid aliens!â
âWe could try it again,â Casey suggests. âAlthough even our moms may not be quite that dense. Honestly, Iâm still surprised they didnât see through it this time.â
Considering that their plan was to organize a dinner for all four of them, both beg off so it would end up being Kara and Kate alone, and then tell the restaurant owner that it was their anniversary so the dinner would be especially romantic, it was probably fair that Casey was shocked their moms hadnât figured out something was up. On the other hand, it was also probably fair that Parker didnât expect anything subtle to work at all.
âWe should make a new plan this time,â Parker replies. âOne less likely to be interrupted by aliens. But we should probably deal with the alien attack first.â
Casey peeks over the top of their table/shield. âReady to jump back into the fray?â
âReady if you are,â Parker replies. âThree, two, oneâŚâ
They both burst out from behind the table and attack the aliens, joining their moms in the fight. And if both Casey and Parker use a little bit more force than necessary, to get out their frustration at their plans being ruinedâŚ
Well, neither Kara nor Kate seems to notice, so they wonât see anything coming when Casey and Parker try again.
Cadmus has kidnapped Casey for info on Supergirl, and they torture her by hitting her hand with a hammer every time she refuses to answer a question (resulting in 17 broken bones). Kara realizes Casey is actually her daughter. And Casey realizes she loves Kara when Kara comes to rescue her she calls her mom. and actually cuddles her during recovery.
Kara doesnât think sheâs ever been this filled with rage in her entire life. Sheâs flying to the Cadmus facility as fast as she can, but she canât possibly get there fast enough, because she can hear screaming, and she knows those screams, she knows who theyâre coming from.
Casey is in that facility, and Casey is the one screaming, and Kara doesnât kill but she is sorely tempted to murder everyone else inside. Honestly, all of these Cadmus monsters are lucky that Kara has a strict moral code, because otherwise, she would tear apart anyone who dared to touch her daughter.
Kara bursts through the ceiling and takes out everyone in the room in a rage-fueled whirlwind, scooping up Casey and flying away with her before anyone else even knows whatâs happened. Casey sobs something unintelligible against her shoulder, and Kara is almost positive she hears the word âmom,â but sheâs not sure. She thinks of Casey as her daughter, after all, but Casey has never called her Mom. Kara doesnât mind. Sheâs sure that Caseyâs feelings towards her must be similar to her feelings towards Eliza; a mother figure, but not quite a mother, because she already has one of those. Kara is perfectly content with that.
But if Casey did call her Mom, itâs not like Kara would protest.
When theyâve gotten a safe distance away, Kara lands on a rooftop, gently setting Casey down. âSweetheart? Are you okay?â
Casey reaches forward, gripping Karaâs cape tightly with one hand. The other, Kara sees, looks mangled, and if she squints a little, she can see that a lot of the bones seem to be broken. Rage threatens to choke her, but Kara manages to shove it down. Thatâs not what Casey needs right now.
âCasey? Honey, can you talk to me?â
âI didnât tell them anything,â Casey finally says, her voice so hoarse itâs barely there. âI didnât answer their questions.â
âHoney, thatâs not what Iâm worried about. Are you okay? I can see that your hand is hurt. Did they hurt you anywhere else?â
Casey shakes her head, still clinging to Karaâs cape. âCan we go home?â
âI think you need to go to a hospital,â Kara says. âBut then we can go home, I promise.â
Casey nods, and she doesnât fight when Kara scoops her up and cradles her in her arms to fly off again. Sheâs shaking, just a little, and Kara wrestles down the urge to go back to that Cadmus facility and wreak vengeance. Thatâs not what Casey needs right now, and Kara needs to focus on what Casey needs.
âIâve got you, sweetheart,â she promises as she takes off. âIâve got you, and Iâm never going to let you go.â
Casey just clings to Karaâs cape and lets her carry her off into the night.
(The whole ânever going to let you goâ thing doesnât last too long before Casey gets sick of it, but they do get in some quality cuddling time during Caseyâs recovery, so all in all, Kara thinks itâs a win.)
Casey is really sick and in her delirious state she calls Kara mom for the first time?
Kara gently strokes Caseyâs hair, grateful for the thousandth time that she canât possibly catch Caseyâs fever and thus doesnât need to worry too much about contagion. Sheâd be here even if that were a consideration, but it makes it easier that it isnât.
Casey mumbles something in her fevered sleep, tossing and turning in bed. Kara bends over to listen, even though of course she can hear just fine while sitting up, and startles when Casey whispers, âMom?â
Her eyes are open, if somewhat unfocused. âMom?â she asks again. âI donât feel good.â
Kara brushes her sweat-soaked hair away from her face. âI know, sweetie,â she says, unsure if Casey is really talking to her but not about to ignore her. âYouâll be better soon. Just get some rest, okay?â
Casey hums quietly. âOkay. Love you.â
Karaâs heart feels heavy in her chest as she kisses Caseyâs forehead. âLove you too, baby girl.â
She doesnât know if Casey knows who sheâs talking to, but that doesnât change the fact that Kara does.

Karaâs never really been certain if sheâs going to have kids. Alex was always the one who felt a strong maternal instinct, not her. Kara likes kids, yeah, but not that much. She always figured it would be more up to her future partner; if they had strong feelings either way, she was ambivalent enough that she would agree with whichever side they took.
And then, she meets Casey.
Casey is twelve, and sheâs fearless. Kara is fairly certain her parents are dead, although Casey wonât give her a straight answer about it. And although she doesnât know for sure, she would guess that they died in some sort of attack on National City, because whenever something goes down, Kara always seems to find Casey in the middle of it, trying to get people to safety. Itâs perhaps one of the most dangerous places a twelve year old girl could find herself, and if Kara thought telling Casey to leave would do anything, sheâd tell her in a heartbeat. She knows it wonât, though, so she decides to take another path.
âYouâre what?â Alex demands when Kara tells her she going to train Casey as her sidekick. âWho do you think you are, Batman? Sheâs twelve!â
âSheâs going to keep running into danger either way!â Kara shoots back. âI might as well make sure sheâs safe while she does it!â
âOr you could stop her!â
âIâve tried! Sheâll do it no matter what I say! At least this way, Iâll be able to keep an eye on her.â
Alex huffs. âWell, at least pull a full Batman and adopt her too. You said sheâs an orphan, she probably needs someone to take care of her.â
âI think I might need to trick her into it, but thatâs the plan,â Kara replies. âHow am I adopting a kid before you?â
âBelieve me, Iâm asking myself the same question right now,â Alex replies. âBut youâll be a good mom-slash-superhero-mentor. And if you had to pick an actual child to mentor, Casey isnât the worst kid you could find. Just keep her safe.â
âThatâs the whole plan,â Kara says. She grins. âStep one starts tonight: make sure she eats a full meal for once.â
âGood luck,â Alex offers.
Kara snorts. âThanks, I think Iâm gonna need it.â
can you rite a part two of Casey getting kidnapped where she opens up to Alex and Kara about what they did to her. And Casey has to get surgery cause of the damage to her hand. And she lets Kara take care of and cuddle with her cause she has a lot of nightmares?
This is the sequel to this.
When they reach the hospital, Casey is immediately brought in for surgery on her broken hand, and she ends up staying there overnight so the doctors can keep an eye on her. Kara accepts that itâs necessary, although she wants more than anything to just bring Casey home and hold her tight and make sure no one ever touches her again.
When she finally can bring Casey home, she has Alex pick them up in a borrowed car, since Kara doesnât drive and sheâs not sure Casey will be up to flying back. She sits in the back with Casey, who is silent through the whole ride. Sheâs barely said a word about what happened to her, and as much as Kara thinks she should probably talk about it, she doesnât want to push.
âAlright,â Alex says when they pull up in front of Karaâs apartment. âI went and got you guys some food before I picked you up from the hospital, so youâve got a bunch of ice cream and some other stuff I thought you might like. Itâs mostly ice cream, to be honest.â
âThanks, Alex,â Kara says. She turns to Casey. âYou ready to get out, honey?â
Casey nods and shuffles out of the car, sticking close to Karaâs side. They head up to the apartment, thankfully not running into anyone else along the way, and when Kara sits down on the couch, Casey immediately cuddles up next to her.
âSweetie,â Kara says gently, running a hand through Caseyâs hair, âdo you want to talk about what happened?â
Casey buries her face in Karaâs side and says, her voice muffled, âThey asked me questions. They wanted to know about you. I didnât tell them anything.â
âYou were brave,â Alex says, sitting down across from them.
âThey hit me with a hammer when I didnât answer,â Casey says tremulously. âMy hand-â
âOh, baby,â Kara whispers, kissing the top of her head.
âThe doctors said you should heal,â Alex reassures her gently. âYouâll be okay.â
âI dreamed about it last night,â Casey admits. âI donât want to dream about it again.â
âIâll stay with you all night,â Kara promises. âIâll keep you safe, I promise.â
Casey buries her face deeper into Karaâs side, her whole body shaking, and Kara feels it as she begins to cry. She wants to cry herself, honestly, and looks up at Alex to see the same helplessness she feels reflected in her sisterâs eyes.
âWeâll keep you safe,â Kara promises again. âNo one will ever touch you again.â
And there is no power on heaven or earth that could ever make Kara break that vow.
The human child Kara took in gets sick and Kara has to pick her up from school.
This is the sequel to this.
Kara is at CatCo when her phone rings with a call from an unknown number. âUm, yes?â she asks as she picks up. âThis is Kara Danvers speaking?â
âMiss Danvers?â the voice on the other end replies. âThis is the nurse from Davis Middle School. Are you Caseyâs guardian?â
âI am,â Kara says, immediately on high alert. âIs something wrong?â
âCasey is sick,â the nurse replies. âShe needs to be picked up and brought home.â
âIâll be right there,â Kara promises, already getting up from her desk. âThank you for calling me, Iâll be there in a few minutes-â
âSheâll be in my office,â the nurse replies. âSheâs not badly sick, donât worry. I think itâs probably just the stomach bug thatâs been going around the school.â
Kara thinks about how Casey picked at her breakfast that morning and seemed a little more down than usual. Sheâs kicking herself for not realizing Casey was sick, but to be entirely fair, Karaâs only gotten sick on a handful of occasions in her entire life, so she thinks itâs fair that she didnât immediately catch the symptoms.
âIâll be there in a few minutes,â Kara tells the nurse again, then she hangs up and runs to Andreaâs office. âMy daughter is sick,â she tell her in a rush of words, âcan I please have the rest of the day off to pick her up and take her home, I promise Iâll work on stuff at home, I just-â
âOf course,â Andrea says, looking shocked at Karaâs begging. âKara, I know we donât always get along, but Iâm not going to prevent you from picking up your sick daughter at school. Just let me know as soon as possible whether youâll be able to meet the deadline on your articles or not. Someone else can pick them up if you canât.â
âOh. Uh, thank you,â Kara says, although part of her is still waiting for the catch. She stares at Andrea for a moment, until Andrea pointedly looks at her watch.
âShouldnât you go pick up your daughter?â
âRight!â Kara blurts out. âThanks!â
She runs downstairs as quickly as she can while still appearing human, then throws herself into the car she bought around the same time she adopted Casey. The drive to the school is quick, only partially because Kara goes a little bit faster than the posted speed limit, and once sheâs there, Kara practically flings herself out of the car and through the doors.
âUm, Iâm Kara Danvers? I got a call from the nurse that my daughter Casey was sick-â
âSheâd be in the nurseâs office, then,â the secretary says, pointing down the hall. âSecond right.â
âThanks,â Kara says, then she hurtles down the hall and into the second door on the right.
âMiss Danvers, I assume?â a vaguely familiar voice asks. It must be the nurse who called her, Kara realizes after a moment, but sheâs much more focused on the pale, wan figure sitting on a chair behind her.
âCasey? Honey, why didnât you tell me you werenât feeling well?â
Casey pulls her shoulders in, looking uncomfortable, and Kara drags her attention back to the nurse. âI mean, uh, yes, Iâm Miss Danvers. Kara Danvers. Youâre the nurse?â
âIâm the nurse,â the nurse replies with a small smile. âCasey should be okay soon, I think sheâs just got the twenty-four hour bug thatâs going around the school. Sheâs kept down a few saltines and some ginger ale, but I wouldnât suggest anything more adventurous than that until sheâs feeling better. She should probably stay home tomorrow and then come back in on Thursday, if thatâll work for your schedule.â
âItâll work,â Kara promises, and if it doesnât, sheâll find a way to make it work. âCasey, hon, letâs go. Thank you so much for taking care of her.â
âItâs my job,â the nurse replies with a smile. âBye, Casey I hope you feel better soon.â
Kara leads Casey out of the school and into her car, and she doesnât push her to say a word. She has the feeling this might be something they ought to talk about, but sheâs not going to push while Casey isnât feeling well. Theyâll talk about it later, when Casey is feeling better.
For now, Kara has a lot of saltines and ginger ale to pick up at the store.
