I’ve always loved Aphmau, MCD, MS, WHATEVER. However, Nana and Zane will always have a special place in my heart that i MUST talk about.
tldr; it’s my love for Zane x Nana/Kawaii - Chan
I love Nana x Zane, as much as I loved Dante x Nana — Zane and Nana have a special place in my heart. I already stated once before, when I was younger I related to Zane whom helped me w my struggles in my early adolescence. However, Nana is also a character who has had an impact on my life. In a way, she was *my* Cookie Princess/Warrior. When Aphmau finally expanded on her backstory and her dynamic in the story of MS/Starlight it brought me perspective. Perspective of how much she means to me and to people everywhere who struggled with fitting in. Nana is quite literally the mascot for the kids who were always overshadowed by the people around them to the point they become a completely different person to finally be *seen.* And that’s why Nana is such a beautiful character.
Zane and Nana’s relationship is one of the more realistic ones I’ve seen. They’re both *new* at romance, hence they have different views on how this’ll go. They have different expectations which is clearly not stated in the beginning of their relationship. Zane whom just wants to be with NANA while Nana, believes she has to be KAWAII - CHAN to receive the love she’s always wanted. The type of love she’s seen ALL her friends go through and be fortunate enough to have. While in reality, no love is the same. Each person’s relationship is so dynamic and has it’s own individuality and spin on how they both work together. This series has taken two of the most unexpected, yet expected people and put them together. They both made mistakes, especially on Nana’s part. However, in the end they *work* on these struggles together as a team while being their own people.
Zane and Nana remind the audience and I: that love isn’t perfect. You’ll make mistakes, but it’s your decision whether to work on it together as a couple. It’s your decision whether to work on yourselves for the sake of having good communication between two parties. More importantly, to be YOURSELVES in a relationship which is all about vulnerability and trust.
