Sometimes I realize how weird the midwest must seem to some people
Like cicadas? They're super normal here, we look forward to hearing them because it's a soothing sound! But then I remember that my mom knew someone from work who had recently moved to Iowa and thought the cicadas were an alien invasion. (We laugh about that to this day)
