i wanna talk about castle âknockdownâ 3x13 a tiny bit, because what an episode. brain? blown.
itâs so special in every respect - it opens with a special âpreviously onâ explaining Kateâs backstory instead of the usual peppy intro, and the dialog is so crafted. as if to convey this really gritty, but almost clichÊ cop show vibe.
I mean Beckett wants this old cop who dragged her out there to just spill what he has on her momâs murder, but he goes on to tell her about how he was scared of a 50 year old Christmas commercial and of Jacob Marley, forced as a ghost to drag the chain he forged with his sins in life. dramatic.
then we got his cop buddy, deep voiced telling us how New York was a different city back then, how it wasnât always pretty. giving off this old school dirty cop vibe more than anything. and I mean Vulcan Simmons as this untouchable drug boss, but taunting Kate and at the same time basically reciting a police instructional manual to give us the 101 on interrogation technique. amazing tension in that scene.
i donât know the episode has a very distinctive style; I felt like a lot of it would have been out of one of castleâs wet dreams about a cool crime story? sniper, dirt cops, mobster kidnappings, falsely incarcerated people, water boarding, cover-ups, ect, ect.
